PACCAR Engine Company in Columbus, Mississippi is seeking a Quality Engineer to support the engine manufacturing process, identify root causes, and drive corrective actions and quality improvements across machining and assembly operations.

The role requires a four‑year degree and a strong background in quality methods, with a night/evening shift context and a comprehensive benefits package in a leading truck‑engine environment.

Qualifications

  • Four year degree is required.
  • Engineering degree is preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Self-motivated team player that works well in a fast pace environment.

Responsibilities

  • Work closely with Machining and Assembly department personnel and provide engineering support with timely responses to problems being worked.
  • Identify root cause for problems that occur during the engine manufacturing process and implement permanent corrective actions with appropriate departments or suppliers.
  • Develop or improve inspection methods to reduce measurement variation.
  • Complete and analyze data for trends and facilitate improvement actions.
  • Create and maintain metrics for quality reporting.
  • Maintain a problem solving database.
  • Participate in or lead process improvement efforts such as 5S, scrap reduction teams, defects per unit reduction, and Kaizen events.
  • Assist with developing and conducting quality training programs and record maintenance.
  • Use effective communication and problem solving skills to foster an improving team environment.

Requisition Summary

The PACCAR Engine Company has an immediate opening for a Quality Engineer.

Job Functions / Responsibilities
  • Work closely with Machining and Assembly department personnel and provide engineering support with timely responses to problems being worked.

  • Develops or improves inspection methods to reduce measurement variation.
  • Completes and analyzes data for trends and facilitates improvement actions
  • Creates and maintains metrics for quality reporting.
  • Maintain a problem solving database.
  • Participates in or leads process improvement efforts such as: 5S, scrap reduction teams, defects per unit (DPU) reduction, and Kaizen events.
  • Assists with developing and conducting quality training programs and record maintenance.
  • Utilize effective communication and problem solving skills to foster an effective team environment which continually strives for improvements in safety, quality, productivity, and efficiency.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Four year degree required.
  • Engineering Degree preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, and PowerPoint)
  • Self-motivated team player that works well in a fast pace environment
Strongly Preferred
  • Exceptional problem solving skills
  • Excellent technical, verbal, and written skills
  • Three to five years manufacturing/quality experience
  • General knowledge of manufacturing/machining principles
  • General knowledge of metrology/inspection principles
  • Familiar with GD&T, SPC, CMM, part layout and measurement
  • Knowledge and application of Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing
  • MBA or Master of Science Degree
