Job summary

Toyoda Gosei Americas seeks a Quality Engineer to manage customer concerns, issue quality alerts, and coordinate investigations within a manufacturing environment. You will handle documentation, reports, and IATF compliance, contributing to continuous improvement and EMS training.

The role requires reading blueprints, strong problem solving, and up to 20% travel. A BS in engineering or related field (or 2–3 years in quality) is preferred, with solid experience in TS16949 processes and Excel

Qualifications

  • BS degree in engineering or technical-related discipline or 2-3 years’ experience in Quality or Engineering in a manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals
  • Advanced problem solving skills and continuous improvement mindset
  • Demonstrated experience with TS 16949 quality systems and internal audit processes

Responsibilities

  • Receive customer concerns, issue quality alerts, and post to QRQC boards
  • Collect and input inspection and countermeasure data to customer portal
  • Log customer concerns to database/logs in a timely manner
  • Develop reports from QRQC and investigation information
  • Submit final reports to customer portal by due date
  • Ensure documentation updates meet IATF requirements
  • Support IATF audits of customer complaints
  • Maintain EMS awareness and training compliance
  • Negotiate customer concerns and PPM disputes
  • Travel as required up to 20% (domestic and international)

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Other duties may be assigned.

  • Receives customer concern from customer, issues quality alert, other documentation to internal departments. Places quality alert on QRQC boards
  • Collects sort / certification and short term countermeasure information - inputs to customer portal
  • Logging of customer concerns to database / logs in a timely manner
  • Collects investigation information from QRQC, develops reports
  • Submits final report to customer portal by due date
  • Confirms that all documentation is updated and filed per IATF requirements
  • Collect additional information from customers as required
  • Requests defect parts back from customers in a timely manner, reviews parts and processes them per TG procedure
  • Monitors progress of issues in customer portals
  • Develop improvement ideas (kaizen) to improve efficiency of the department
  • Supports IATF audit of customer complaints
  • Maintain awareness and understand the roles and responsibilities regarding the environmental policies, management system, and objectives and targets by attending the required training. Perform all tasks in accordance with the EMS procedures and practices and minimize the impact of their activities on the environment.
  • Negotiation of customer concerns and PPM disputes

  • Ability to develop good working relationships with customers

  • Willing to travel up to 20% of time (domestic and international)
  • Ability to read blue prints / drawings and technical specifications
  • TS 16949 experience a plus
  • Trained TS 16949 internal auditor
  • Advanced statistical training
  • Advanced problem solving skills
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE

BS degree in engineering or technical-related discipline or 2-3 years’ experience in Quality or Engineering in a manufacturing environment

Communication Skills

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Clear, concise written and verbal skills and problem solving skills required. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of team members. Ability to speak effectively with customers.

Technical Skills

Computer proficiency with MS Office products, particularly Excel.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to perform high level mathematical calculations and to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, and sampling theory.

Reasoning Ability

Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Position Type / Expected Work Hours

This is a full-time position and hours of work and days are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Occasional overtime throughout the week and weekend work may be required as job duties demand.
