Kelly Services is seeking a Quality Engineer (QE Weld / Assembly) for a premier manufacturing client in East Moline, IL. The role focuses on welding/assembly processes, driving continuous improvement, and ensuring safety and quality.

The position offers a $48/hour pay rate on a W2 contract with potential for long-term engagement; off-shift and weekend work may be required, with exposure to SAP, MPPlanner, JDAAT, and MES systems.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field.
  • Experience in welding and manufacturing assembly.
  • Ability to read technical prints and interpret data from CMM reports.
  • Proficiency with shop floor documentation such as SOE, PFMEA, OMS.
  • Experience with SAP, MPPlanner, JDAAT and MES systems.
  • Willingness to work off shifts and weekends.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and drive continuous improvement projects focused on safety, quality, efficiency, cost, and ergonomics within the department.
  • Establish process controls, tooling, assembly methods, OMS, and control plans for current operation revisions.
  • Work with SAP, MPPlanner, and JDAAT to perform essential engineering functions.
  • Drive closed-loop corrective actions for weld and assembly issues.
  • Collaborate with engineering and production teams to improve shop floor processes and documentation.

Salary/Pay Rate/Compensation: $48 per hour (W2 contract, no C2C)

What’s a typical day as Quality Engineer (QE Weld / Assembly)? You’ll be:
  • Identifying and implementing continuous improvement projects focused on safety, quality, efficiency, cost, and ergonomics within the department.
  • Establishing process controls, tooling, assembly methods, operator method sheets (OMS), and control plans for current operation revisions.
  • Working with SAP, MPPlanner, and JDAAT to perform essential engineering functions.
  • Driving closed loop corrective actions for assembly and weld build issues.
  • Collaborating with engineering and production teams to enhance shop floor processes and documentation.
This job might be an outstanding fit if you:
  • Have experience in manufacturing assembly, weld processes, and production environments.
  • Can read technical prints, CMM reports, and interpret measurement data.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both salaried and hourly personnel.
  • Possess experience with shop floor documentation such as Sequence of Events (SOE), PFMEA, and Operator Method Sheets (OMS).
  • Can work off shifts and weekends as required.
  • Are skilled in using engineering tools, systems, and databases.
  • (Preferred) Have experience with MPPlanner (SOE and OMS development), closed loop corrective action, JDAAT coding, and other MES systems (SAP, Ignition).
  • (Preferred) Have experience in a union environment, torque tooling, AutoCAD, and Creo View software.
  • Hold a Bachelor’s degree in engineering, data analytics, or a related discipline—or equivalent related work experience.
