Job summary

Midway Products Group, INC is seeking a 1st Shift Quality Engineer to lead quality initiatives in automotive manufacturing environments. The role requires coordinating problem solving, 8-D reports, SPC analysis and supplier coordination to ensure smooth introductions of new parts.

The candidate should have 4 years of quality engineering experience in automotive manufacturing, with a preference for a Bachelor's in Quality Control and Six Sigma certification.

Qualifications

  • 4 years of quality engineering in automotive manufacturing required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Quality Control preferred.
  • Six Sigma certification preferred.
  • Experience with FMEA, control plans and APQP/Launch process preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Represent Quality Manager in their absence for production issues.
  • Support MOS.
  • Conduct problem solving including 8-D reports and SPC analysis.
  • Interface with plant, engineering, customer, supplier, and personnel for new parts into production.
  • Write and update control plans, FMEAs, inspection sheets and reports.
  • Coordinate prototype documentation, tagging and shipment.
  • Initiate actions to prevent non-conformities in products and processes.
  • Coordinate quality activity during APQP/Launch process.
  • Lead and direct Layout Technicians, Quality Auditors, and Quality Technicians.

Job description

1st Shift Quality Engineer
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
  • Represent Quality Manager in their absence in regards to current production issues/matters.
  • Support MOS.
  • Conducts/Facilitates problem solving:
  1. a) Customer plant visits / 8-D reports
  2. b) Supplier concern coordinator
  3. c) SPC analysis
  • Interface with plant, engineering, customer, supplier, personnel to enhance introduction of new parts into production. Member of the plant's AQP Core Team in planning for quality on new products.
  • Authorized to handle and track sample submissions as needed, including writing and updating control plans, FMEA's, inspection check sheets, reports, etc.
  • Coordinate prototype documentation/tagging/shipment.
  • Authorized to initiate actions to prevent the occurrence of any non-conformities relating to product, processes and quality system.
  • Coordinate the Quality activity during the APQP/Launch Process.
  • Conduct new employee Quality orientation as needed.
  • Direct and work with:
  1. a) Layout Technicians and Layout Technician Apprentices
  2. b) Quality Auditors
  3. c) Quality Technicians
  • Performs other essential functions as assigned.

Education

Bachelors of Quality Control (preferred)
