Job summary

RTX, a leader in aerospace and defense, seeks a seasoned Quality Engineer at Troy, OH to drive quality assurance across materials and processes from design to delivery. This role emphasizes implementing QA systems, reducing cost of quality, and preventing escapes through robust planning and analysis.

The candidate will lead testing, documentation, and process improvements, collaborating with design, manufacturing, and suppliers to ensure compliance with contractual requirements and industry

Qualifications

  • University degree and 2+ years of relevant experience or an advanced degree.
  • Experience interpreting technical drawings, RCCA, containment plans, FAI, Pareto analysis, cause/effect diagrams, process mapping.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain quality control systems and protocols for materials processed into finished products.
  • Devise testing plans, methods, and equipment to assure product reliability and collaborate to enforce quality standards.
  • Ensure projects and process documentation meet requirements and contractual obligations.
  • Identify and manage risk in product development using UPPAP elements like PFMEA, MSA, process flow, and control plans.
  • Lead quality initiatives and drive implementation in assigned products and manufacturing areas.
  • Perform escape management, root cause analysis, and recommend corrective actions for internally produced products and processes.
  • Coordinate product engineering and process changes to address QA issues raised by customers.
  • Lead solutions for high-level nonconformities to satisfy key quality issues.
  • Execute quality engineering strategy to reduce nonconformities and sustain standards.
  • Lead test and inspection plan implementation to ensure reliability and conformance.
  • Deploy continuous improvement tools to meet organizational goals and timelines.

Our Troy, OH Wheel & Brake site has an opening for a seasoned Quality Engineer, capable of working as an individual contributor to achieve company and departmental objectives that significantly impact areas of responsibility. Experience managing Quality Assurance processes, procedures and/or projects as well as demonstrated experience and knowledge of how to influence individuals, implement processes and standards with the goal to continuously improve quality will be keys to success in this role. Responsible for implementing quality improvement projects, processes to ensure reduction in cost of poor quality and prevent escapes.

What You Will Do
  • Responsible for implementation and maintaining quality control systems, and protocols for materials being processed into partially finished or finished products.
  • Working with product design and specification, devises testing plans, methods, and equipment to assure reliability of product Collaborates internally to ensure quality standards are in effect.
  • Ensures that projects and process control documentation are compliant with requirements, objectives and/or contracts.
  • Identifies and manages risk in product development primarily utilizing and driving UPPAP core elements (e.g. PFMEA, MSA, Process Flow, and Control Plans, etc.).
  • Manages quality initiatives and drives their implementation for assigned products and manufacturing areas.
  • Performs Escape management procedures, root cause analysis, and recommends corrective action for internally produced products & processes.
  • Coordinate’s implementation of product engineering and process changes to satisfy QA issues raised by customers
  • Leads implementation of solutions to complex and high-level nonconformities and to satisfy key quality issues raised by customers.
  • Executes Quality Engineering strategy aimed at reducing nonconformities and ensuring quality standards are in effect.
  • Leads implementation of test and inspection plans, methods and technologies to assure the reliability and conformance of products and processes.
  • Effectively deploys continuous improvement tools ensure conformance to organization’s goal and initiatives and ensures timely completion
Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a University Degree and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field
  • Experience/educationwith the interpretation of technical drawings, RCCA, containment plans, FAI, Pareto analysis, cause/effect diagrams, process mapping
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
