Qualifications

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Attention to detail and ability to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain effective inspection processes to support QA with machined components and electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Keep inspection processes current and optimized.
  • Review new product designs for inspection requirements.
  • Troubleshoot inspection issues promptly and effectively.
  • Assist engineering with testing and evaluation of new designs.
  • Provide technical support to outside suppliers as required.
  • Generate inspection programs for CMMs.
  • Research cost/benefit analyses for capital equipment.
  • Monitor emerging QA technologies and evaluate their fit for Beck.
  • Interact with other departments and suppliers to support operations.

Role Summary:

The Quality Engineer develops and improves inspection processes that ensure the quality and reliability of Beck’s machined components and electro-mechanical assemblies. This role supports manufacturing, engineering, and supplier quality through expertise in inspection methods, GD&T, CMM programming, and fixture design. The position works cross-functionally to solve quality challenges, evaluate new technologies, and drive continuous improvement initiatives that enhance product quality, efficiency, and operational performance.

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for developing and maintaining effective and efficient inspection processes to support the Quality Assurance department with inspecting a wide variety of machined components and electro-mechanical assemblies.
  • Responsible for keeping inspection processes current and optimized.
  • Review new product designs for inspection requirements.
  • Troubleshoot inspection issues timely and effectively.
  • Assist engineering with testing and evaluation of new designs and modifications.
  • Provide technical support to outside suppliers as required.
  • Generate inspection programs for coordinate measuring machines.
  • Research and prepare cost / benefit analysis of capital equipment.
  • Responsible for monitoring emerging technologies and evaluating their fit and potential benefit to Quality Assurance operations.
  • Interact with other departments and outside suppliers in support of operations.
Professional and Personal Requirements:
  • Must have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in a production manufacturing environment.
  • Must have a strong working knowledge of GD&T and inspection methodologies.
  • Must have experience with designing inspection fixtures using SolidWorks or equivalent 3D modeling software.
  • Experience developing CMM programs using PC-DMIS preferred.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and SPC preferred.
  • Must be proficient in using Microsoft Office Suite to create documentation, spreadsheets, and databases to support inspection operations.
  • Must have excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Must possess excellent attention and respect for detail.
  • Must have proven professional qualities including strong initiative, integrity, and the desire / ability to work in a team environment.
  • Must possess a good mechanical aptitude.
  • Must have the ability to organize and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must promote a positive, professional atmosphere and support activities that enhance the welfare and morale of Beck employees.
  • Must promote and ensure a safe working environment by demonstrating consistent adherence to Beck safety policies.
Education Requirements:
  • Four year bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering from an ABET accredited program is required.
Physical Requirements:
  • Office environment requiring ability to stand, sit, and walk for extended periods.
  • Speak and listen to others in person and over the phone.
  • Use keyboard and read from computer, screen and reports.
  • Work environment includes regular exposure to manufacturing areas that require the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses and hearing protection.
