Job summary

Northern Gear & Machining is seeking a Quality Engineer to identify specifications per customer prints, design automated testing systems, and monitor QA rates during production.

You will collect defect data, troubleshoot causes, document quality standards, train staff, and work with design and production teams to prevent errors, while reporting findings.

Requires a BS in CS or Engineering, CQE, and 4+ years of quality engineering experience; familiar with CMM, Keyence, and GMM is a plus.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering.
  • Certified Quality Engineer (CQE).
  • Four or more years of quality engineering experience.

Responsibilities

  • Identify required specifications per customer print and monitor QA rates.
  • Design automated testing systems and QA workflows to improve efficiency.
  • Collect data on product errors and investigate solutions by troubleshooting the manufacturing or design process.
  • Document initial quality standards and measured product quality during production.
  • Identify defects, determine causes, and assist with resolutions.
  • Train production staff on effective quality controls and supervise outcomes.
  • Collaborate with design and production teams to solve problems.
  • Answer questions on achieving quality goals and reducing errors.
  • Determine quality improvement factors.
  • Implement methods to inspect, test and evaluate reliability of processes and equipment.
  • Ensure processes adhere to quality standards.
  • Prepare reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing data.
  • Program computerized measuring equipment (CMM, Keyence, GMM).
