Job summary

Blue Origin in Florida is seeking a highly skilled Quality Engineer to establish and maintain production quality systems across our space hardware programs. You will lead root cause analyses, implement corrective actions, and coordinate with engineering, manufacturing, and test teams to ensure product quality and process improvement.

Responsibilities include audits, approving manufacturing docs, and driving quality performance aligned with company goals, contributing to safe, reliable space

Qualifications

  • BS in Engineering or Science.
  • 5+ years of proven experience in a Quality Engineer role in a production environment.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO 9000 QM systems and related quality programs.
  • Ability to support manufacturing schedules (first or second shift) and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Establish, implement, maintain, and enforce quality system processes in production.
  • Measure, analyze, and improve quality system performance; lead root cause analysis and corrective action.
  • Review and approve manufacturing build documents including work orders and nonconformance records.
  • Perform periodic audits of the quality system (AS9100) and drive quality improvements.
  • Interface with internal/external customers on quality concerns and develop training materials.
  • Report to the Quality Engineering Manager and collaborate with teams to support space systems development and testing.
  • Apply technical leadership to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight.

This role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which includes Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance, and spans Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across all Blue Origin facilities.

Responsibilities
  • Establish, implement, maintain, and enforce quality system processes that support products in a production environment.
  • Measure, analyze, and improve quality system performance aligned with organizational goals; integrate quality system applications between engineering, manufacturing, and operations; communicate quality issues; facilitate troubleshooting with various teams; lead root cause analysis and corrective action.
  • Review and approve manufacturing build documents including work orders and nonconformance records.
  • Perform periodic audits of the quality system in accordance with AS9100; recommend initiatives to improve product and system quality; provide quality assurance subject matter expertise to inspection, manufacturing, and test.
  • Interface with internal and external customers on quality-related concerns and develop training materials to build quality awareness.
  • Report to the Quality Engineering Manager and contribute as part of a hardworking team to impact all aspects of developing, testing, and launching space systems to support Blue Origin\'s vision.
  • Apply technical expertise, leadership, and dedication to quality to positively impact safe human spaceflight.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of a B.S. in Engineering or Science
  • 5+ years of proven experience in a Quality Engineer role in a production environment
  • Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO 9000 QM systems and related quality programs
  • Ability to support manufacturing schedules (first or second shift) and overtime as needed
Desired
  • American Society of Quality, Certified Quality Engineer certification
  • Experience in Aerospace, space launch, and military/commercial aviation highly preferred
  • Experience with IPC J-STD-001 (Space Addendum)
  • Experience with IPC 620 standard (IPC-WHMA-A-620)
  • Experience in GD&T fundamentals
  • Experience with quality tools such as Lean principles, Six Sigma, root cause analysis, and corrective action
  • Experience with APQP, PFMEA, control plans, and various problem-solving approaches
  • Quality Management System audit experience
  • Quality performance measurement analysis capabilities
  • Six Sigma Green, Black Belt, or comparable certification
