Job summary

Blue Origin in Merritt Island, Florida is seeking a Quality Engineer to establish and maintain quality systems across development and production environments. Qualifications

  • Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO 9000 QM systems.
  • Excellent communication, organized, detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

  • Establish, implement, maintain, and enforce quality system processes in development and production.
  • Measure, analyze, and improve quality system performance.
  • Review and approve manufacturing build documents including nonconformance records.
  • Perform periodic audits of the quality system per AS9100.
  • Participate in design reviews and suggest quality improvements.
  • Recommend initiatives to enhance product and system quality.
  • Provide QA domain expertise to inspection, manufacturing, and test teams.
  • Collaborate with customers and train teams to raise quality awareness.

The role is part of Blue Origin Operations, which includes Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance across all Blue Origin facilities.

Responsibilities
  • Establish, implement, maintain, and enforce quality system processes that support products in development and production environments.
  • Measure, analyze, and improve quality system performance consistent with organization quality goals.
  • Review and approve manufacturing build documents including work orders and nonconformance records.
  • Perform periodic audits of the application of our quality system in accordance with AS9100.
  • Participate in engineering design reviews and make recommendations to improve the quality and manufacturability of new designs.
  • Recommend and improve initiatives and/or changes that will enhance product and system quality.
  • Provide quality assurance domain expertise to inspection, manufacturing, and test for the manufacturing team.
  • Collaborate with internal and external customers on quality related concerns; develop and present training materials to build quality awareness.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum of a B.S. in Engineering/Science.
  • 5+ years of proven experience in a Quality Engineer role in a production environment. Aerospace, space launch, military, or commercial aviation preferred.
  • Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO 9000 QM System and/or related quality systems and programs.
  • Excellent communication skills, organized, attention to detail, and self‑starter.
  • Ability to support integration schedules and overtime as needed.
  • Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen the culture of inclusion.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.
Preferred Qualifications
  • American Society of Quality, Certified Quality Engineer certification.
  • Experience in aerospace, space launch, military/commercial aviation.
  • Experience with IPC J‑STD‑001 (Space Addendum).
  • Experience with IPC 620 standard (IPC‑WHMA‑A‑620).
  • Experience in GD&T fundamentals.
  • Experience with quality tools such as lean principles, root cause analysis, and corrective action.
  • Experience with advanced product quality planning (APQP), process failure mode and effects analysis (PFMEA), control plans, and various problem‑solving approaches.
  • Quality Management System audit experience.
  • Quality performance measurement analysis capabilities.
  • Six Sigma Green, Black Belt, or comparable certification.
  • Experience with Payload Operations.
