Job summary

Janicki Industries, Inc. in Hamilton, WA, seeks a Quality Engineering Lead to guide quality across the project lifecycle in aerospace manufacturing. Lead quality plans, audits, CAPA, data analysis, and cross-functional improvements while ensuring AS9100/QMS compliance.

You will mentor teams, advance QA practices, and collaborate with process owners to optimize metrics, processes, and documentation. Travel to the Bellingham site may be required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or technical field.
  • 5+ years of Quality Engineering in manufacturing or aerospace.
  • 2+ years leading quality teams or projects.
  • AS9100/QMS experience.
  • Experience with root cause analysis, CAPA, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience with internal, customer, and regulatory audits.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the development, promotion, and execution of quality standards, inspection processes, test methodologies, quality plans, documents, and reports.
  • Drives advancements in quality engineering practices and establishes best practices across projects and teams.
  • Leads and coordinates day-to-day activities of quality engineering staff in support of production.
  • Oversees retrieval, review, and analysis of QA data to drive continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Leads statistical data analysis and identifies quality improvement opportunities across products and processes.
  • Leads evidence-based root cause analysis and ensures effective implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Leads and monitors application and effectiveness of quality improvement initiatives.
  • Partners with process and program owners to develop, analyze, and improve quality metrics for management and program reviews.
  • Reviews new or modified documents, procedures, diagrams, and flow charts to verify alignment with contracts, AS9100, and QMS.
  • Leads participation in contract reviews and disseminates quality requirements to relevant parties.
  • Researches, evaluates, and implements best practices to advance quality improvement initiatives and utilization standards.
  • Identifies and leads procedural and workflow improvements with cross-functional teams to streamline processes.
  • Oversees collection, development, and analysis of quality measurement data to support business objectives.
  • Provides training, coaching, and mentorship to ensure consistent quality standards.
  • Leads and participates in internal, regulatory, and customer audits with timely resolution of findings.

DEPARTMENT SUMMARY

The Quality Engineering Lead reports within an engineering team and leads all aspects of quality within a project lifecycle to ensure products meet internal and external compliance requirements while supporting organizational quality objectives.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Leads the development, promotion, and execution of quality standards, inspection processes, test methodologies, quality plans, documents, and reports
  • Drives advancements in quality engineering practices and establishes best practices across projects and teams
  • Leads and coordinates the day-to-day activities of quality engineering and inspector staff in support of production
  • Oversees the retrieval, review, and analysis of QA data to drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Leads statistical data analysis and identifies quality improvement opportunities across products and processes
  • Leads evidence-based root cause analysis and ensures effective implementation of corrective and preventive actions
  • Leads and monitors the application and effectiveness of quality improvement initiatives
  • Partners with process and program owners to develop, analyze, and improve quality metrics for management and program reviews
  • Reviews new or modified documents, procedures, diagrams, and/or flow charts to ensure they meet user requirements and conform to contractual, AS9100, and QMS requirements
  • Leads participation in contract reviews; documents and disseminates quality requirements and key information to pertinent parties
  • Researches, evaluates, and implements best practices to advance quality improvement initiatives and utilization standards
  • Identifies, recommends, and leads procedural and workflow improvements while collaborating with cross-functional teams to streamline processes
  • Oversees the collection, development, and analysis of quality measurement data to support business objectives
  • Provides training, coaching, and mentorship to enable employees to meet consistent quality standards and support professional development
  • Leads and participates in internal, regulatory, and customer audits, ensuring timely resolution of findings and continued compliance
  • Leads and participates in cross-functional projects and strategic quality initiatives
  • Performs inspection activities as needed, using common hand tools, drawings, CAD models, etc. These may be receiving, in-process, source, or final
  • Must work well under pressure, meeting and completing multiple deadlines
  • Must be at work on time and maintain good attendance. This is a condition of employment and is an essential function of the job
  • Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Due to our ITAR and EAR regulations, applicants must be a US Citizen or of Legal Permanent Resident Status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a) (3).
  • This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance (U.S. Citizenship Required). Janicki will assist with gaining this access once employed. Special Access Program or other Government Access Requirements are mandatory for this position and requires candidate to agree to enter into a Continuous Evaluation program.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or another technical field required
  • 5+ years of Quality Engineering experience in a manufacturing or aerospace environment
  • 2+ years of experience leading quality teams or projects
  • AS9100/QMS experience
  • Experience in composite fabrication preferred
  • Experience with root cause analysis, CAPA, and continuous improvement
  • Internal, customer, and regulatory audit experience
  • Must have demonstrated excellent communication skills
  • Must have strong computer skills including QA applications, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases
DETAILED WAGE INFORMATION
  • Salary range for this role is between $100,000 - $145,000, plus discretionary bonus, 401(k) matching, vacation, and health benefits. Employees can also receive additional pay for off shifts. The range provided is Janicki’s estimate of the base compensation for this role. Actual amount offered will be based on job-related and non-discriminatory factors such as experience, location, education, training, skills, and abilities.
