Job summary

Janicki Industries in Layton, Utah, seeks a seasoned Quality Engineer to ensure products meet AS9100/QMS standards and customer requirements. You will lead quality systems, data analysis, and continuous improvement on aerospace projects from composite fabrication to final inspection.

You should have 3–5 years of manufacturing experience, a bachelor’s degree in engineering or related field, strong communication skills, and proficient QA software and MS Office tools.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, manufacturing engineering, or a bachelor's degree in English or history is required.
  • 3-5 years manufacturing experience, including experience in composite fabrication with practical application of quality assurance is required.
  • Commercial/military aerospace experience is preferred.
  • Must have demonstrated excellent communication skills.
  • Must have strong computer skills including QA applications, word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, promotes, and executes quality standards, inspection processes, test methodology, quality plans, documents, and reports.
  • Creates advancements in current quality engineering practices.
  • Coordinates day to day activities of quality engineering and inspector staff in support of production.
  • Retrieves, reviews, and analyzes QA data for driving continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Performs statistical data analysis and identifies quality improvement opportunities.
  • Performs evidence-based root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Monitors the application of improvement initiatives.
  • Works with process & program owners to prepare, analyze and improve quality metrics for management & program reviews.
  • Reviews new or modified documents, procedures, diagram, and/or flow charts, to determine if they will perform according to user request and conform to contractual, AS9100 or QMS requirements.
  • Participates in contract reviews; document and disseminate information gleaned to pertinent parties.
  • Research best practices to impact quality improvement initiatives and utilization standards.
  • Identifies and recommends procedures and workflow improvements. Works with others to develop and streamline workflow.
  • Collects, and assists with, developing and analyzing quality measurement data.
  • Provides training to enable employees to meet consistent quality standards.
  • Participates in internal, regulatory and customer audits.
  • Participates and/or leads appropriate project work.
  • Performs inspection activities as needed, using common hand tools, drawings, CAD models, etc.
  • Must work well under pressure, meeting and completing multiple deadlines.
  • Must be at work on time and maintain good attendance.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Janicki Industries is a private and family-owned business based in Washington State with a Layton, Utah, facility. The Layton Utah facility specializes in machining the largest most complex structures built from carbon fiber composites and aluminum for the aerospace and space exploration markets. The parts produced are installed on todays most advanced fighters, bombers, rockets, and space vehicles. Janicki Industries continues to lead the market with both innovations and abilities alike. This position is located on-site in Layton, Utah.

Department Summary

We are looking for a new team member to join us as a Quality Engineer to ensure our products meet internal and external compliance requirements. Successful candidates are eager to tackle large complex projects with interesting problems in a fast-paced team environment. We are looking for an experienced Quality Engineer with 3-5 years of experience to join our team.

Roles & Responsibilities

Qualifications

Due to our ITAR and EAR regulations, applicants must be a US Citizen or of Legal Permanent Resident Status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b (a) (3).

DETAILED WAGE INFORMATION
  • Salary range for this role is between $83,000 - $145,000, plus discretionary bonus, 401(k) matching, vacation, and health benefits. Employees can also receive additional pay for off shifts. The range provided is Janicki’s estimate of the base compensation for this role. Actual amount offered will be based on job-related and non-discriminatory factors such as experience, location, education, training, skills, and abilities.
  • This position is designated by Janicki as a safety sensitive position.
