Job summary

Availity is seeking an experienced Quality Engineer IV to define and drive quality strategy across teams and systems. You will influence architecture decisions, lead automation strategy, and ensure scalable, high-performing testing practices in a healthcare platform.

Remote US work with time-zone alignment is supported. You will mentor engineers, advance AI-driven testing approaches, and collaborate with product, development, and architecture to raise the bar on quality and reliability across

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience in software quality engineering, including leading testing efforts in complex, high-scale environments with an automation-first approach.
  • 6+ years hands-on experience designing and evolving automation frameworks for UI, API, and integration testing.
  • Deep expertise in automation development using JavaScript, Python, or C#.
  • Strong experience leveraging development tools and IDE ecosystems for automation development, debugging, and analysis.
  • Expert-level experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines.
  • Expertise in cloud concepts (AWS, Azure) including deployments and cloud-hosted architectures.
  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex automation and pipeline failures, including test flakiness and environment instability.
  • Strong understanding of API automation, service virtualization, and test data management.
  • Proven ability to lead and influence automation architecture decisions, improving testability and scalability.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor engineers in automation best practices and effective test design.
  • Strong understanding of underlying technologies supporting the applications under test.

  • Contribute to and promote best practices for testing, automation, and quality engineering across teams and the broader organization.
  • Participate in cross-team initiatives and discussions that impact quality strategy, tooling, and engineering practices.

Role Overview

The Quality Engineer IV is responsible for driving quality strategy and technical direction across teams and systems. This role drives enterprise-level quality initiatives, influences architecture decisions, and ensures scalable, maintainable, and high-performing testing practices across the organization. The QE IV partners with engineering, product, architecture and other Quality thought leaders to proactively identify risk, define test strategy, and ensure quality is built into the development lifecycle. This role is expected to operate independently, mentor across teams, and elevate the effectiveness of the broader Quality organization.

  • Proven ability to troubleshoot and resolve complex automation and pipeline failures, including test flakiness and environment instability.

AI Usage
  • Act as an early adopter and champion of AI‑enabled testing practices.
  • Design, build, and demonstrate AI‑driven solutions that improve test strategy, automation development, defect analysis, and risk identification.
  • Leverage AI to proactively identify gaps in test coverage, uncover edge cases, and assess functional and non‑functional risks.
  • Apply AI to accelerate root‑cause analysis by synthesizing logs, test results, and system behaviors.
  • Create reusable AI‑enabled tools, scripts, or workflows that improve team productivity and scalability of quality practices.
  • Mentor and train engineers on effective and responsible AI usage, promoting best practices in prompting, validation, and integration.
  • Actively share learnings, demos, and drive adoption of AI capabilities across teams.
