Job summary

Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence is seeking a Quality Engineer Intern for Summer 2027 in North Kingstown, RI. This internship targets engineering students graduating in December 2027 or May/June 2028, with hands-on experience in quality, testing, and potential transition to a full-time Application Engineer after graduation.

Interns will collaborate with global teams, gain exposure to metrology and manufacturing software, and develop practical skills in inspections, CMMs, and improvements

Qualifications

• Actively pursuing a BS in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial)
• Experience working in a factory setting preferred.
• Experience with MS Office Suite
• Experience in coming inspection techniques, blueprint reading and GD&T a plus

Responsibilities

• Supports and participates in continuous improvement activities that positively affect safety, the environment, quality, reliability, and productivity or improve the overall suitability and effectiveness of the management system, its processes, and products.
• Assists teams with root cause and continuous improvement efforts to improve both product and process quality.
• Assists the Quality Manager in implementing and maintaining the quality systems.
• Works with various teams to implement design changes.
• Ensures that products and processes comply with the requirements of the quality system.
• Assists operations in the timely resolution of non-conforming products.
• Conducts inspections using hand measurement devices as well as CMM’s.
• Required to incorporate clean work practices in daily working routine.
• Performs other duties as assigned.

Successful interns will gain hands-on experience in technical customer support, software applications, and product demonstrations, with the opportunity to transition into a full-time Application Engineer role after graduation.

What You'll Do

Qualifications

Actively pursuing a BS in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, or Industrial)

Experience working in a factory setting preferred.

Experience with MS Office Suite

Experience in coming inspection techniques, blueprint reading and GD&T a plus

Comfortable with hands‑on laboratory/factor environment

Ability to work Monday- Friday, 40 hours per week during the summer break

• On-site role with primary work at one of the following offices: North Kingstown, RI | Charlotte, NC | Detroit, MI | Dallas, TX | Irvine, CA | Miamisburg, OH | Wilmington, DE | Milwaukee, WI.
• Primarily office-based with opportunities to visit customers or demo sites.
• Regular use of computer equipment; occasional movement around labs or factory floor.
• May involve light lifting (up to 15 lbs) of equipment or demonstration tools.
• Team-oriented environment with collaborative problem-solving and technical engagement.
