Job summary

Blue Origin seeks a Quality Engineer to join Operations, driving quality system processes across production, engineering, and manufacturing. You will lead root-cause analyses, approve manufacturing documents, and conduct periodic AS9100 audits to improve product and system quality.

You will develop training materials, interface with customers, and support building space systems from development to launch. This role emphasizes teamwork and adherence to rigorous quality standards.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Engineering or Science.
• 5+ years of proven experience in a Quality Engineer role in a production environment.
• Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO 9000 QM systems.
• Ability to support manufacturing schedules (first, second, weekend shift) and extended hours as needed.
• Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and strengthen an inclusive culture.
• U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawful entry into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum.

Responsibilities

• Establish, implement, maintain, and enforce quality system processes in a production environment.
• Measure, analyze, and improve quality system performance consistent with organizational goals.
• Integrate quality system applications between engineering, manufacturing, and operations to ensure best practices and clear communication of quality issues.
• Facilitate troubleshooting of quality issues with diverse teams; lead causal analysis to drive root cause and corrective action.
• Review and approve manufacturing build documents, including work orders and nonconformance records.
• Perform periodic audits of quality system application in accordance with AS9100; recommend initiatives to improve product and system quality.
• Provide quality assurance subject matter expertise to inspection, manufacturing, and test.
• Interface with internal and external customers on quality-related concerns.
• Develop training materials to build quality awareness.
• Collaborate within a diverse team to impact all aspects of developing, testing, and launching space systems.

Overview

Blue Origin is seeking a Quality Engineer to join Operations, which includes Integrated Supply Chain, Test Operations, Safety, Quality, and Mission Assurance, with Manufacturing and Supply Chain support across Blue Origin facilities. In this role, you will establish, implement, maintain, and enforce quality system processes in a production environment, measure and improve quality system performance, and facilitate communication of quality issues across engineering, manufacturing, and operations. You will lead root-cause analyses and corrective actions, review and approve manufacturing build documents and nonconformance records, conduct periodic audits under AS9100, and develop training materials to raise quality awareness. You will report directly to the Quality Engineering Manager and contribute to developing, testing, and launching space systems."

• Minimum: • B.S. in Engineering or Science
• • 5+ years of proven experience in a Quality Engineer role in a production environment
• • Familiarity with AS9100 or ISO 9000 QM systems

Desirable Experience and Skills

• Experience in Aerospace, spacecraft processing, space launch, or military/commercial aviation
• Experience with IPC J-STD-001 (Space Addendum)
• Experience with IPC 620 standard (IPC-WHMA-A-620)
• GD&T fundamentals
• Quality tools such as Lean, Six Sigma, root cause analysis, and corrective action
• APQP, PFMEA, control plans, and problem-solving approaches
• Quality certifications (e.g., ASQ Certified Quality Engineer) and audit experience
• Quality performance measurement and analysis capabilities
• Six Sigma Green/Black Belt or equivalent

Shift and Relocation

Relocation provided. Shifts available: Monday–Thursday, 3:00 PM–1:30 AM. This position may require shift flexibility to align with business needs. Interviews will include a technical assessment.
