Job Summary & Responsibilities

Software Quality Engineer II to join our team. In this role, the QE II will be responsible for leading quality assurance efforts, designing and implementing test strategies, delivering and maintaining test automation, and ensuring the reliability and performance of our software products, including workflow-based business applications. QE II will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to drive quality initiatives and contribute to the delivery of exceptional software solutions.

QE II will be part of a team of experienced Quality Engineers responsible for bug‑free software delivery by performing smoke testing, functional testing, regression testing, and automation‑first testing for software products and workflow automation solutions. QE II should be extremely proficient in automation testing, test automation tools, and QA testing tools for managing and executing test cases, tracking bugs, and reporting status. QE II should have proven experience leading and mentoring other Quality Engineers.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Create detailed, comprehensive, and well‑structured test plans and automated test cases to ensure the quality and reliability of software products, including workflow‑driven applications.
• Design, develop and execute automation scripts using open‑source tools.
• Ensure version control of QA Automation code and implementation of best practices with code quality. Provide product team overviews on overall product and software quality.
• Develop and apply testing processes for new and existing products to meet client needs.
• Validate end‑to‑end business workflows, user tasks, decision logic, integrations, approvals, handoffs, and exception handling across workflow‑based applications.
• Perform various types of testing, including functional, regression, performance, and smoke testing using automation testing techniques.
• Design, develop, and maintain automated test suites and frameworks to streamline testing processes and improve efficiency.
• Collaborate with product owners, software engineers, platform configuration teams, and other stakeholders to define requirements, identify acceptance criteria, and prioritize testing efforts.
• Partner with business and technology teams to understand process flows, user roles, business rules, data dependencies, and workflow routing that impact test coverage.
• Identify, document, and track software defects and issues using bug tracking systems, ensuring timely resolution and effective communication of findings.
• Liaise with internal teams (e.g. engineers and product owners) to identify system requirements and resolve issues in a timely manner.
• Participate in story grooming, design discussions, code reviews, and sprint planning meetings to provide input on quality‑related matters and ensure alignment with quality standards.
• Perform thorough regression testing when bugs are resolved, including validation of impacted workflows, integrations, and downstream processes. Participate in different Agile ceremonies like Daily Stand Up, Story refinement, Sprint review, retrospectives, PI Planning, etc.
• Review requirements, specifications, and technical design documents to provide timely and meaningful feedback.
• Contribute to the continuous improvement of testing processes and methodologies.
• Stay updated on industry best practices and emerging trends in software quality assurance.

Preferred Qualifications

Education & Experience:

• 3-5 years of experience in software quality assurance, with a focus on designing and implementing automated testing strategies, leading testing efforts, and collaborating with team members. Should demonstrate a Test Automation first mindset.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, Data Science, or similar/related Engineering/Science based disciplines.
• Excellent analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot complex issues and drive resolution collaboratively.
• Solid understanding of software development lifecycle (SDLC) methodologies, including Agile, Scrum, and Kanban.
• Strong proficiency in test automation tools and frameworks, such as Playwright, Selenium, Appium, JUnit, TestNG, or similar.
• Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross‑functional teams and influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Experience in writing clear, concise, and comprehensive test plans and test cases.
• Experience with any of the following is a plus: Selenium, Playwright, XML, JavaScript, .NET framework, T‑SQL, JQuery, JSON, and the Salesforce Platform.
• Experience with performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner) and familiarity with performance testing methodologies is a plus.
• Experience testing workflow automation, case management, low‑code platforms, or business process management solutions such as Appian is a plus.
• Experience validating integrations, data flows, APIs, role‑based security, workflow routing, and system‑to‑system dependencies is preferred.
• Familiarity with ADO and the software development life cycle (SDLC).
• Proven experience preparing, presenting, and maintaining required SDLC documentation and artifacts.
• QA testing related certifications (or willingness to obtain) such as ISTQB Advanced Level, Certified Test Engineer (CSTE) Certified Software Quality Analyst (CSQA) Certified Associate in Software Testing (CAST).

• Teamwork: Proven ability to work in a dynamic product team environment with product owners, scrum masters, engineers, and fellow assurance engineers. Be strong in fostering a collaborative and high‑performing work environment.
• Strong Automation skills – You need to be extremely proficient in developing Automated tests using Open‑Source tools like Selenium, Playwright, etc. and you should be able to code in languages such as Java, C#, Python, etc.
• Problem‑solving - Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills, with the ability to systematically analyze complex software systems, ask the right questions, identify root causes of issues, and trace defects across workflow steps, integrations, business rules, and data dependencies.
• Communication - Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to effectively convey technical information and collaborate with cross‑functional teams.
• Adaptability - Ability to adapt to changing priorities, project requirements, and technologies, while maintaining a high level of quality and productivity.
• Attention to Detail - Demonstrate a meticulous approach to testing and problem‑solving, with a keen eye for identifying even the smallest defects and inconsistencies in software products.
• Documentation - Proficient in creating clear and concise documentation, including test plans, test cases, workflow scenarios, acceptance criteria, and defect reports, to ensure comprehensive test coverage and facilitate knowledge transfer within the team.
• Business Process Orientation - Ability to understand business workflows, user journeys, approvals, handoffs, and exception paths, and translate them into effective test coverage.
• Collaboration - Proven ability to collaborate effectively with cross‑functional teams, including product managers, developers, and stakeholders, to achieve common goals.
• Continuous Improvement - Commitment to continuous learning and improvement, staying updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in software quality assurance.

Pay Range

$75,700-$102,000 per year

The compensation for this position will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience. The compensation package may also include incentive and bonus opportunities.
