Job summary

icwgroup is seeking a remote Quality Engineering lead to own the test strategy for an insurance delivery team. You will drive shift-left practices and build automated solutions that improve quality across the software delivery lifecycle.

Responsibilities include defining scope and plans, guiding quality discussions in planning reviews, and developing test suites covering functional, regression and API testing. Collaboration with distributed teams and data validation are key aspects of the role.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Proven experience owning test strategy and planning for software delivery teams.
• Hands-on experience building automated test suites with modern frameworks.
• Practical experience with API-level testing, CI/CD pipelines, and data validation.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills with ability to influence within a team.
• Demonstrated ability to coordinate tasks, delegate work, and review junior team output.

• Develop, execute, and maintain test plans, cases, and scripts covering functional, regression, integration, API, and exploratory testing.
• Build and extend automated test suites using Playwright for UI and Postman/Newman for API testing.
• Contribute automated tests to CI/CD pipelines including Jenkins and GitHub Actions for regression and feature validation.
• Validate data integrity across ETL pipelines and end-to-end reconciliation across integrated systems.
• Identify and document defects, perform root-cause analysis, and participate in code reviews.
• Coordinate quality activities with distributed/offshore vendor partners and report defects/automation metrics.

Role overview

This remote position leads Quality Engineering efforts for an assigned delivery team within a property and casualty insurance organization. The role owns the complete test strategy and planning, drives shift-left practices, and builds automated solutions that improve quality outcomes across the software delivery lifecycle.

Responsibilities

• Own the complete test strategy and test planning for assigned projects, defining scope, approach, risk assessment, entry and exit criteria, and coverage targets
• Drive quality discussions during grooming, sprint planning, and design reviews; set quality objectives and ensure the team delivers against them
• Develop, execute, and maintain test plans, cases, and scripts covering functional, regression, integration, API, and exploratory testing
• Build and extend automated test suites using frameworks such as Playwright for UI and Postman or Newman for API following clean code practices
• Contribute automated tests to CI/CD pipelines including Jenkins and GitHub Actions for regression, smoke, and feature validation
• Validate data integrity across ETL pipelines, data transformations, and integrated systems, including end-to-end reconciliation
• Identify and document defects, perform root cause analysis using logs, stack traces, and database state, and participate in code reviews
• Coordinate quality activities with distributed and offshore vendor partners, coach junior team members, and report on metrics such as defect density, escape rate, test coverage, and automation progress

Requirements

Nice to have

• Insurance domain background, particularly in Claims Management or Insurance Billing workflows
• Experience using AI tools for test case generation, coverage analysis, or failure triage
