Job summary

Knowles is seeking a Quality Engineer to ensure quality techniques are applied consistently, perform statistical analysis, and investigate quality problems across manufacturing processes.

The role includes leading yield improvement projects, maintaining quality metrics, and collaborating with operations to drive continuous improvement. Candidates must have a engineering degree and relevant manufacturing quality experience, with ITAR and U.S. citizenship considerations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
• Experience in facilities certified to TS/IATF16949, AS9100, or ISO 9001.
• Experience with quality tools: 8D, Lean Six Sigma, 5 Whys, Pareto Analysis, FEMA Kaizen, Cpk, etc.
• Minimum 2 years of quality experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Proficient in Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Minitab; ERP/MRP exposure.
• Eligible to work in the U.S.
• ITAR documentation awareness and U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Provide statistical analysis of process behavior using statistics, quality tools, and software.
• Identify and record problems with product lines and initiate actions to prevent recurrence of nonconformities.
• Assist in evaluating and qualifying new product designs and supplier materials via the new product development process.
• Monitor and report site quality metrics on a monthly basis.
• Lead yield improvement projects to increase facility capability to meet Knowles and customer requirements.
• Participate in documentation and drawing review, approval, revision, or creation to ensure proper documentation.
• Assist in rapid cycle times for site-related customer complaints.
• Work with operational departments on continuous process improvements.

Job description

The Quality Engineer is responsible for ensuring consistent application of quality techniques, providing statistical information for quality improvement, and investigating, analyzing, and resolving quality problems.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Provide statistical analysis of process behavior through the use of applicable statistics, quality tools, and software.
• Identify and record problems relating to the product lines, and initiate actions to prevent the recurrence of any nonconformities relating to products and processes.
• Assist in the evaluation and qualification of new product designs and new supplier materials via a defined new product development process.
• Monitor and support site quality objectives by maintaining metrics and reporting them on a monthly basis.
• Lead yield improvement projects in an effort to increase facility capability to consistently meet Knowles and customer requirements.
• Participate in documentation and drawing review, approval, revision, or creation as necessary to ensure processes are properly documented.
• Assist in rapid cycle times for site-related customer complaints.
• Work directly with operational departments on continuous process improvements

Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor’s degree in Industrial, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
• Experience working in a factory certified to TS/IATF16949, AS9100, or ISO 9001.
• Experience with various quality system improvement tools, including 8D, Lean Six Sigma, 5 Whys, Pareto Analysis, FEMA Kaizen, Cpk, etc.
• Minimum 2 years of Quality related experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Works well in a high-volume production environment with minimal supervision.
• Experience with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Minitab, and ERP/MRP systems.
• Ability to travel to suppliers, customers, or corporate meetings (<5% of the time).
• All applicants must be eligible to work in the U.S. without restriction to ITAR documentation and materials.
• Must be a U.S. citizen. Application for Security Clearance optional upon hire.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to remain in a stationary position examining parts under a microscope
• Ability to lift about 25-30 lbs.
• Ability to manipulate small parts under microscope using a pair of tweezers

The salary range for this role is$78,000 - $105,000 annually
