Job summary

Acutronic Group is seeking a Quality Engineer I to support and improve the Quality Management System across manufacturing operations in Austin, TX. You will drive quality assurances, lead root cause analyses, and collaborate with Engineering, Operations, and Supply Chain to reduce defects and ensure regulatory compliance.

The role requires a BS in a related field and at least 1 year in aerospace/defense engineering. IPC standards knowledge and DFARS/FARS/DPAS experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• At least one year of aerospace, defense, or engineering industry experience.
• Training in quality assurance, management and analytics.
• IPC standards experience for electronic manufacturing and assembly.
• Familiar with ISO 9001 and AS9100.
• Government contract flow downs including DFARS, FARS, and DPAS.
• Project management and documentation practices.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and maintain inspection plans for incoming, in-process, and final inspection.
• Define acceptance criteria aligned with engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements.
• Support implementation of risk-based controls (FMEA, Control Plans, APQP elements where applicable).
• Ensure compliance with QMS requirements and regulatory/customer standards.
• Lead and/or support root cause analysis using structured methodologies (8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone, etc.).
• Manage and drive closure of Nonconformances, RMAs, and Corrective Actions.
• Support containment, corrective, and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.
• Support supplier quality activities, including supplier qualification and performance monitoring, managing supplier corrective actions (SCARs), and resolving incoming quality issues.
• Develop and maintain procedures, work instructions, and quality documentation.
• Ensure proper documentation control and record retention.
• Partner with Engineering and Operations to ensure design for quality and manufacturability.
• Provide training and guidance on quality processes and requirements.
• Support calibration and measurement system management.

Education

Bachelor of Science in Electrical or Industrial/Process Engineering, Manufacturing Management, or related field
