Job summary

Alcon is seeking a Quality Engineer I to join the Global Technical Service Quality team in Lake Forest, CA. The role focuses on developing, applying and maintaining quality standards for Technical Services, collaborating with Global Technical Service, Warehousing, Field Service, Clinical Application Specialists, and Equipment manufacturing teams to ensure standards are in place and applied in operational environments.

This position primarily supports Alcon's surgical and diagnostic devices.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field.
  • Experience in Quality Engineering or related function.
  • Knowledge of quality systems and engineering principles.
  • Experience in regulated manufacturing industries is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Support implementation and maintenance of quality processes related to Global Technical Services operations.
  • Provide quality support for field service, technical support, and clinical activities by analyzing data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Support product lifecycle activities by providing quality input for serviceability, reliability, and field performance.
  • Ensure products meet standards and agency guidelines to deliver exceptional customer experience.
  • Drive continuous improvement of Technical Service processes and investigations of quality issues.
  • Lead technical investigations and ensure corrective actions comply with standards.
  • Develop and implement procedures for inspection and testing of equipment and products.
  • Measure key product performance and quality metrics for Global Technical Service.

Alcon is looking to hire a Quality Engineer I to join our Global Technical Service Quality team in Lake Forest, CA. The Quality Engineer I will be responsible for development, modification, application and maintenance of quality standards and processes applicable to Technical Services. This role collaborates with Global Technical Service, Warehousing, Field Service, Clinical Application Specialists, and Equipment manufacturing teams to ensure quality standards are in-place and applied in respective operational environments. This position will primarily support Alcon's surgical and diagnostic devices.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support implementation and maintenance of quality processes related to Global Technical Services operations.
  • Provide quality support for field service, technical support, and clinical application activities by analyzing field service and product quality data to identify trends and improvement opportunities.
  • Support product lifecycle activities by providing quality input for serviceability, reliability, and field performance.
  • Ensures performance and quality of products conform to established standards and agency guidelines resulting in exceptional customer experience.
  • Drives continuous improvement of Technical Service Business and Technical processes.
  • Champions technical investigations of product and process quality issues.
  • Ensure corrective measures comply with applicable standards and support high-level product performance requirements.Leads development and provides guidance on equipment, process, and software verification and validation.
  • Devises, qualifies, and implements procedures used for inspection and testing of Alcon surgical equipment, sub-assemblies, and related Alcon products.
  • Develop methodology to measure key product performance, compliance, and other quality metrics for Global Technical Service.
  • Provides support as subject matter expert for internal audits and external audits and inspections.
What you’ll bring to Alcon
  • Bachelor's Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +8 yrs; Assoc.+4 yrs)
  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English

Preferred Qualifications/Skills/Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Biomedical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Experience in Quality Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Service Engineering, Technical Services, or a related function.
  • Knowledge of quality systems and engineering principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
  • Experience within the medical device, healthcare, biotechnology, or regulated manufacturing industries.
  • Experience with quality metrics, trending, and statistical analysis tools.
  • Familiarity with SAP, PLM, or other quality management systems.
