Job summary

Bastion Technologies seeks a Quality Engineer to support space program work on the MSFC Safety & Mission Assurance contract at Stennis Space Center in Mississippi. The role emphasizes QA/QC oversight and compliance with NASA S&MA requirements.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Interpret, coordinate and plan S&MA activities impacting major programs.
  • Assess in-house and contracted QA/QE processes and procedures.
  • Review QA/QE documentation for compliance with NASA, MMS, and program requirements.
  • Support documentation for manufacturing, inspection and test phases.
  • Participate in milestone reviews to evaluate certification requirements.
  • Develop tools to identify quality requirements for MSFC programs/projects.
  • Review drawings and procurement documentation.
  • Provide support on quality plans, surveillance plans, NC resolutions, and investigations.
  • Develop metrics as needed.

Job description

The Quality Engineer will support the space program work associated with Liquid Engines on the MSFC Safety & Mission Assurance contract located at Stennis Space Center (SSC) in Mississippi.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, and coordinating assignments; plans and developing S&MA engineering and assurance activity that may have an important effect on major programs.
  • Prepare, evaluate and provide assessments of in-house and contracted quality related processes, procedures and manufacturing activities including implementation of procedures. Specifically with contractor manufacturing systems.
  • Perform reviews and assessments of QA/QE documentation for compliance with NASA policy, Marshall Management System (MMS), Safety and Mission Assurance (S&MA) directorate organizational instructions and program specific requirements.
  • Support the preparation, evaluation, and assessment of documentation and processes for manufacturing, inspection, and test phases of programs and projects.
  • Participate in government milestone reviews to evaluate certification requirements affecting design, safety, production, testing, and operation.
  • Develop/utilize tools to ensure that all applicable quality requirements are identified for MSFC programs/projects.
  • Perform drawing and procurement documentation review.
  • Provide support on all quality areas to include quality plans, surveillance plans, inspection instructions, first article inspections, and NC resolutions, test, failure investigations, RCCA analysis and other QE related functions.
  • Develop Metrics as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
REQUIRED:

  • This position requires US Citizenship due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
  • Must have a bachelor's degree in the field of engineering or related field.
  • Must have 5+ years of recent and related work experience.
  • In lieu of degree: Candidates with 9+ years of recent and related experience will be considered.
  • Knowledge in NASA S&MA requirements for manufacturing processes in support of the design and development of flight hardware.
  • Possess a working knowledge of AS9100/ISO9000 quality management system requirements.
  • Ability to read complex blueprints, technical charts, and specification sheets.
DESIRED:
  • Experience in an insight, risk-based, or COTs type contracts as well as compliance-based contract and services is highly desirable.
  • Launch vehicle integration experience is highly desirable.
  • Liquid engine experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience working with NASA/DoD flight hardware in a manufacturing and production environment.
  • Integrated Product Team Experience.
  • PMP, or DAWIA Project Management Certification is desired.
WORK LOCATION:
  • This position is located onsite; some travel may be required.
  • Schedules are subject to change based on the requirements of the position and/or customer needs.
  • This position may require periodic shift work and (paid) overtime.
BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED:

  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and TEAMS.

  • Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in written form, with internal and external customers.
  • Able to follow company programs, processes, procedures, practices, requirements, goals, and objectives.
  • Must be organized with good time management skills and must be able to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
  • Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.
  • Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time) and may require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
  • Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.
