Bastion Technologies, Inc. seeks a Quality Engineer to support RS-25 Engine work under the MSFC Safety & Mission Assurance program, located onsite in Canoga Park, CA. The role emphasizes interpreting, coordinating, and improving S&MA engineering and assurance activities for major programs.

The candidate should have a bachelor's degree in engineering or related field and 5+ years of experience (9+ years if no degree). Knowledge of NASA S&MA, AS9100/ISO9000, and blueprints is required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or related field; US citizenship required.
  • 5+ years of related QA/QE experience; or 9+ years in place of a degree.
  • Knowledge of NASA S&MA requirements for manufacturing processes.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100/ISO9000 QMS requirements.
  • Ability to read complex blueprints, technical charts, and specification sheets.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret, organize, and coordinate S&MA engineering activities for major programs.
  • Prepare, evaluate and provide assessments of QA/QE processes and manufacturing activities.
  • Perform reviews and assessments of QA/QE documentation for NASA policy compliance.
  • Support documentation and processes for manufacturing, inspection, and test phases.
  • Participate in government milestone reviews to evaluate certification requirements.
  • Develop/utilize tools to ensure all quality requirements are identified for MSFC programs.
  • Perform drawing and procurement documentation review.
  • Provide support on all quality areas including quality plans, surveillance plans, inspection instructions, and NC resolutions.

Job description

The Quality Engineer will support work associated with RS-25 Engines on the MSFC Safety & Mission Assurance space program contract located in Canoga Park, CA.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Technical responsibility for interpreting, organizing, and coordinating assignments; plans and developing S&MA engineering and assurance activity that may have an important effect on major programs.
  • Prepare, evaluate and provide assessments of in-house and contracted quality related processes, procedures and manufacturing activities including implementation of procedures. Specifically with contractor manufacturing systems.
  • Perform reviews and assessments of QA/QE documentation for compliance with NASA policy, Marshall Management System (MMS), Safety and Mission Assurance (S&MA) directorate organizational instructions and program specific requirements.
  • Support the preparation, evaluation, and assessment of documentation and processes for manufacturing, inspection, and test phases of programs and projects.
  • Participate in government milestone reviews to evaluate certification requirements affecting design, safety, production, testing, and operation.
  • Develop/utilize tools to ensure that all applicable quality requirements are identified for MSFC programs/projects.
  • Perform drawing and procurement documentation review.
  • Provide support on all quality areas to include quality plans, surveillance plans, inspection instructions, first article inspections, and NC resolutions, test, failure investigations, RCCA analysis and other QE related functions.
  • Develop Metrics as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • This position requires US Citizenship due to the sensitivity of customer related information.
  • Must have a bachelor's degree in the field of engineering or related field.
  • Must have 5+ years of recent and related work experience.
  • In lieu of degree: Candidates with 9+ years of recent and related experience will be considered.
  • Knowledge in NASA S&MA requirements for manufacturing processes in support of the design and development of flight hardware.
  • Possess a working knowledge of AS9100/ISO9000 quality management system requirements.
  • Ability to read complex blueprints, technical charts, and specification sheets.
DESIRED
  • Experience in an insight, risk-based, or COTs type contracts as well as compliance-based contract and services is highly desirable.
  • Launch vehicle integration experience is highly desirable.
  • Liquid engine experience is highly desirable.
  • Experience working with NASA/DoD flight hardware in a manufacturing and production environment.
  • Integrated Product Team Experience.
  • PMP, or DAWIA Project Management Certification is desired.
WORK LOCATION
  • This position is located onsite; some travel may be required.
  • Schedules are subject to change based on the requirements of the position and/or customer needs.
  • This position may require periodic shift work and (paid) overtime.
BACKGROUND INVESTIGATIONS REQUIRED

DRUG AND ALCOHOL SCREENING REQUIRED

All Bastion employees must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen and are required to participate in periodic random drug and alcohol screenings.

STANDARD BASTION REQUIREMENTS
  • Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and TEAMS.
  • All of Bastion's employees must be team players with strong work ethics and must be culture oriented.
  • Able to communicate effectively, verbally and in written form, with internal and external customers.
  • Able to follow company programs, processes, procedures, practices, requirements, goals, and objectives.
  • Must be organized with good time management skills and must be able to work outside normal schedule and adjust schedule to meet peak periods and surge requirements.
  • Generally, an office environment, but can involve inside or outside work depending on the task.
  • Work may involve sitting or standing for extended periods (90% of the time) and may require lifting and carrying up to 25 lbs. (5% of the time).
  • Regular attendance in accordance with an established work schedule is critical.

SALARY RANGE

$105,000.00 to $140,000.00, salary will depend on education and experience.
