Job summary

Adient plc is seeking a Quality Engineer to coordinate and perform quality functions to ensure product quality and reliability in high-volume automotive seating production. You will lead PPAP submissions and act as the main quality contact for customers and suppliers, guiding continuous improvement across programs with a focus on defect reduction and rapid issue resolution.

The role requires ISO/TS 16949/PPAP/DOE/CP planning knowledge, strong analytical skills, and the ability to mentor peers.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or equivalent experience.
  • ISO/TS 16949, Continuous Improvement, Total Quality Management, PPAP, FMEA, Control Plans, DOE, and SPC experience required.
  • Ability to read safety rules, drawings/blueprints (GD&T) and procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of SPC techniques and applications, including DOE and MSA.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills and root-cause determination.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and perform quality functions to ensure product quality and reliability.
  • Prepare PPAP packages and obtain approvals from customers.
  • Resolve customer and supplier quality issues using established problem-solving methods.
  • Conduct gage studies (Gage R&R, Bias, Linearity, Stability) where applicable.
  • Develop and update control plans, inspection plans, and containment plans.
  • Support PFMEA updates and use customer-specific systems.
  • Lead capability studies and document results for special characteristics.
  • Mentor team members in statistical methods and tools.
  • Interface with external customers as the single point of contact for issues.
  • Coordinate supplier AQP deliverables and post-SOP PPAP approvals.
  • Promote strong customer relations and respond promptly to issues.
