Job summary

Daniel Defense in Georgia is seeking a Quality Engineer 3 to lead quality control and drive process improvement across manufacturing. You will partner with Engineering, Quality, and Operations to define inspection methods and ensure products meet specifications.

The role involves data analysis, RCCA/CAPA, Six Sigma, and supporting First Article Inspections, ECP changes, and product releases. You will train staff on corrective actions and help implement PCPs for new and existing products.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing or related field; 5 years manufacturing experience.
  • 5 years min. of engineering experience or related training; equivalent education/experience.
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures.
  • Work proactively with others through teamwork and cooperation.
  • Must be able to manage time efficiently, use sound judgment and maintain records.

Responsibilities

  • Lead environmental health and safety principles across the site.
  • Plan and execute quality control/assurance activities for manufacturing.
  • Define critical characteristics and in-process inspection methods.
  • Collect, analyze and report quality data to identify trends.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, and Operations to drive improvements.
  • Participate in design reviews and development of inspection methods.
  • Support ECPs and Temporary Deviations as required.
  • Assist with RCCA/CAPA, DMAICs, and Kaizens for quality issues.
  • Coordinate First Article Inspections for internal parts.
  • Support customs, limited and special builds release processes.
  • Contribute to Stage-Gate/NPI quality deliverables.
  • Train personnel on corrective action processes and tools.
  • Develop PCPs for new and existing products.
  • Perform capability studies and statistical analyses.
  • Maintain quality visuals and team boards with timely updates.
  • Engage in continuous improvement for Safety, 6S, and Productivity.
  • Uphold high integrity and a positive work environment.
  • Other duties as needed.

As the Quality Engineer 3,you will be responsible for the functions outlined below:

Essential Functions:

  • Responsible for demonstrating commitment to and leadership of environmental health and safety principles, policies and procedures.
  • Work with the M.E. and Operations to Plan and execute quality control/quality assurance activities for manufacturing processes and products.
  • Support defining critical characteristics and develop in-process inspection methods for manufactured components.
  • Collect, analyze, and report quality data to identify trends and drive continuous improvement within manufacturing operations.
  • Partner regularly with Engineering, Quality, and Operations to align priorities and implement improvement initiatives; track and maintain departmental performance metrics.
  • Participate in design and drawing reviews, including development of new measurement and inspection methods.
  • Support the Engineering Change Process (ECP) to ensure timely awareness and implementation of design changes.
  • Assist with implementation of Temporary Deviation (TDs) as required.
  • Execute quality workflows within the DDI (NIP) process and related systems.
  • Support root cause analysis and corrective/preventive actions (RCCA/CAPA), DMAICs, and Kaizens for product and process quality issues using established corrective action procedures and 6 sigma methodology.
  • Coordinate with Engineering to support First Article Inspections (FAIs) for internally manufactured parts.
  • Support the Customs, limited, and special builds release process. Confirm requirements are met prior to production.
  • Contribute to Quality deliverables within the Stage-Gate/new product introduction process.
  • Train and guide personnel on corrective action processes and applicable quality tools and techniques.
  • Work with the M.E. team to recommend and drive manufacturing quality improvements, including process controls and inspection enhancements.
  • Support development and implementation of Process Control Plans (PCPs) for new and existing products.
  • Perform and participate in capability studies and other statistical analyses to improve product and process quality.
  • Support Quality visual management and team board metrics, ensuring timely and accurate updates.
  • Perform assigned duties using established procedures, instructions, and pre-defined guidelines.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts supporting Safety, 6S, Quality, Delivery, and Productivity objectives.
  • Expected to be a contributor to the company standards on high integrity, safety, and a positive work environment.
  • Other responsibilities as deemed appropriate or necessary by management.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Bachelor’s degree in manufacturing or related field + 5 years previous manufacturing experience; or Equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
  • 5 years min. of engineering experience or related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential functions of the job.
  • Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices and procedures within the field.
  • Work proactively with others through teamwork and cooperation.
  • Must be able to manage time efficiently, use sound judgment, pay great attention to detail and provide excellent record keeping skills.
  • Self-motivated; willing to put in extra effort and hours as needed. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritize responsibilities, work under the pressure of deadlines, interact and effectively communicate with all company officials, employees, vendors, customers, etc.

Physical Requirements:

  • Must be able to lift and carry awkward items weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Requires intermittent standing, walking, sitting and bending throughout the workday.
  • Must be able to work in a manufacturing environment, to include working in and around machinery, exposure to noise and chemicals, lights/lasers, etc.
  • Must be able to wear appropriate Personal Protection Equipment as required by your position and/or Company policy.
