Qualifications

  • 3-5 years’ experience of Aerospace Quality requirements experience
  • Previous experience with AS9100 and AS9102 (ISO 9001 desirable)
  • Experience performing/evaluating First Article Inspections
  • Blueprint reading experience
  • Root Cause analysis and Corrective Action/Preventative Action development
  • Auditing experience (ISO 9001, AS9100, Internal)
  • Must be a US citizen

Responsibilities

  • Utilize quality science techniques to improve supplier performance.
  • Review, analyze, and report on quality discrepancies related to processes and products.
  • Ensure products meet company and regulatory standards.
  • Use surveillance and auditing to identify improvement opportunities.
  • Interface with manufacturing, engineering, customer, supplier, and procurement to ensure requirements are satisfied.
  • Develop supplier recovery plans and monitor supplier process conformance.
  • Collaborate with supplier to investigate root causes and implement corrective actions.

Overview

Position: Quality Engineer 1

Location: Washington, DC

Duration: On-Going contract

Estimated Frequency: 30-34 hrs per week

Compensation: $49/hr.

Position Overview:

Job Description:

  • Utilize quality science techniques to effect continuous performance improvement at assigned suppliers.
  • Reviews, analyzes, and reports on quality discrepancies related to process, assembly, manufacturing, mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, or electro-mechanical systems.
  • Ensure that performance and quality of products conform to established company and regulatory standards.
  • Use surveillance and auditing techniques to identify opportunities for process and product improvement.
  • Interfaces with manufacturing, engineering, customer, supplier, and procurement (as appropriate) to ensure requirements / expectations are satisfied.
  • Facilitate development of supplier recovery plans.
  • Monitor and evaluate supplier process for compliance to purchase order and engineering requirements.
  • Collaborate with supplier to investigate root cause and corrective actions when process or product deficiencies are detected.
  • Identify, plan, and facilitate cross-functional improvement activities.
  • Deploy variation management tools and techniques at select suppliers to mitigate risk.
  • Have performed Quality System Audits, AS9102 First Article Reviews.
  • Computer proficiency and proficiency with MS Office products.

Additional Comments:

  • Travel is required and may extend beyond the local area.
  • Initial supplier assignments may change to meet customer requirements.
  • Work hours are not fixed or guaranteed and may extend beyond 40 hours per week to meet customer requirements.
  • Aerospace supplier experience is preferred and may be used as the primary selection criteria among equally qualified candidates.

Skills Requirement:

  • Production (or Manufacturing) Quality Assurance/Control in Aerospace industry (or similar).
  • Ability to interpret blueprints and specifications.
  • Collaborate with production personnel and stakeholders.
  • Identify and drive root cause and corrective actions.
  • Execute on deliveries.
  • Attention to Detail.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • In process and Final Inspection.

Requirements:

  • 3-5 years’ experience of Aerospace Quality requirements experience
  • Previous experience with AS9100 and AS9102 (ISO 9001 is desirable but not required)
  • Previous experience performing and/or evaluating First Article Inspections
  • Previous experience with blueprint reading
  • Previous experience in Root Cause analysis and Corrective Action/Preventative Action Development
  • Previous experience in auditing (any of these – ISO 9001, AS9100, Internal)
  • Must be a US citizen
