Job summary

Fisher Barton is seeking a Quality Engineer in Waukesha, WI to help bring new products into manufacturing, analyze root causes of non-conforming product, and drive continuous improvement. The role reports to the Quality Manager and collaborates with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities include control plan development, PPAP coordination, and leading metrology and ISO9001 activities. Travel is minimal and the team emphasizes data-driven problem solving and quality excellence.

Qualifications

  • Associates degree in Quality Engineering Technology or equivalent training and experience.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred.
  • Statistics knowledge (capability, gauge R&R, t-test and other testing, SPC).
  • Software knowledge, including Microsoft Office and Minitab.
  • Ability to read and understand drawings.
  • Excellent communication (verbal/written) and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Works with Engineering on the transition of products into manufacturing to ensure all customer requirements are met.
  • Development and implementation of control plans and additional work instructions; determine methods for capably measuring key dimensions.
  • Coordinate, conduct, and analyze Gage R&R studies; prepare PPAP documentation as required.
  • Provide root cause investigations of non-conformances and implement corrective actions.
  • Lead continuous improvement activities and manage metrology program including external calibrations and equipment purchases.
  • Maintain ISO9001 documentation and conduct internal audits; participate in supplier audits and train staff on quality systems.

Quality Engineer

Salary Range: $59,200.00 To $75,000.00 Annually

The Quality Engineer will support the functions of bringing new products into manufacturing, root cause analysis and disposition of non-conforming product, and continuous improvement. The Quality Engineer reports to the Quality Manager.

  • Adhere to Fisher Barton Safety and Quality procedures and regulations and business code of ethics As an Engineer, you will:
  • Develop Engineering knowledge in your specific area
  • Run samples and report results requiring limited interpretation following FB procedures; producing good-quality data
  • Solve routine problems in your area and recommend modifications to existing practices
  • Meet commitments; working independently using established methods
  • Assist in new products, procedures. Assist technicians or junior exempts in routine and non-routine activities
  • Independently make good decisions about routine tasks, seeking assistance when appropriate
  • Listen and comprehends information being communicated; communicate results to internal stakeholders
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO:
  • Works with Engineering on the transition of products into manufacturing to ensure all customer requirements are met. Responsibilities may include the following:
    • Development and implementation of control plans and additional work instructions as required o Determine the methods for capably measuring key dimensions and attributes to ensure that products meets customer expectations
    • When required coordinate, conduct, and analyze Gage R&R studies related to specific products o Prepare Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation when required (All levels) o Review part submissions from suppliers and provides feedback
  • Provides root cause investigation of internal and external non-conformances. Assists in implementing corrective action and verifying that corrective actions are effective
  • An active participate and leader in the continuous improvement activities for the company. This will include everything from quality database management and trend analysis to leading formal improvement projects
  • Assist in leading the company metrology program including: Coordination of external calibrations, purchase of new equipment, database management, manage traceable standards, reporting, etc.
  • Assists in the maintenance of the ISO9001 Quality Management System and associated documentation
  • Conducts audits to ensure compliance to the documented processes, policies, and work instructions
  • Participate in supplier audits as needed
  • Provides training to employees on quality systems, gauge use and other quality related topics
  • Performs other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associates degree in Quality Engineering Technology or equivalent training and experience, Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering preferred
  • Statistics knowledge (capability, gauge R&R, t-test and other comparison testing, SPC)
  • Software knowledge, including Microsoft Office and Minitab
  • Ability to read and understand drawings
  • Must be open-minded, flexible, and able to adapt easily and accept new ideas quickly
  • Must be able to maintain a high activity level and be able to effectively manage and prioritize numerous projects and responsibilities
  • Excellent communication (verbal/written), interpersonal and computer skills (proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite desired)
  • Demonstrated ability to work across functions and among a variety of levels within an organization, on individual and group projects
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing priorities and able to balance multiple tasks
  • Ability to wear appropriate, required PPE
  • ISO experience
