Aptiv in the United States is seeking a Process Quality & Continuous Improvement professional to drive quality across manufacturing and to serve as the primary liaison for customer quality matters.

  • Knowledge of IATF 16949 and customer specific requirements.
  • Strong problem-solving and root-cause analysis.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Business English fluency.
  • Proficiency in MS PowerPoint and Excel.
  • Quality software/tools experience (e.g., Minitab).

Responsibilities

  • Monitor KPIs (COPQ, scrap, FTQ) and lead corrective actions.
  • Apply SPC, Pareto, and validation methods to keep processes capable.
  • Manage non-conforming product, containment, and disposition.
  • Keep Control Plans current and followed on the floor.
  • Audit finished goods; determine sample sizes per specs.
  • Provide quality training to production teams.
  • Serve as primary contact for customer quality issues.
  • Lead 8D problem-solving and root-cause actions.
  • Validate containment effectiveness with internal/external customers.
  • Support ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 audits.

YOUR ROLE

This role is responsible for driving continuous improvement throughout the manufacturing process and acting as a primary liaison for all customer quality-related matters.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Process Quality & Continuous Improvement
  • Monitor and analyze key quality performance indicators ( KPIs ) such as Cost of Poor Quality (COPQ), scrap rate, and First-Time Quality (FTQ). Lead corrective action plans and process improvement initiatives when KPIs fall below target.
  • Utilize statistical tools like SPC (Statistical Process Control), Pareto charts, and other process validation methods to ensure manufacturing processes are stable and capable.
  • Manage the non-conforming product process, including implementing effective containment actions and directing appropriate rework or disposition.
  • Ensure all Control Plans are accurate, up-to-date, and consistently followed on the production floor.
  • Conduct periodic audits of finished goods and determine appropriate sample sizes to ensure product meets all specifications.
  • Provide quality-related training and guidance to production teams, including operators, team leaders, and quality technicians, on new processes, quality controls, and reaction plans.
Customer Quality & Problem Solving
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for customer quality issues, ensuring timely communication and effective problem resolution.
  • Lead all problem-solving activities using structured methodologies, such as the 8D process, to identify root causes and implement robust corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Validate the effectiveness of containment actions for both internal and external customers to minimize the impact of quality issues.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address customer concerns and support all quality requirements.

Support and participate in internal and external quality system audits (e.g., ISO 9001, IATF 16949).

REQUIRED SKILLS
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related technical field.
  • 2+ years of experience in an automotive manufacturing quality function
  • Proven experience in leading problem-solving activities and applying quality tools ( 8D, SPC, MSA, FMEA, etc. ).
  • Strong understanding and experience with Quality Management Systems ( IATF 16949 and customer specific requirements).
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with a strong ability to perform root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interface with customers and internal teams
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple customer requirements, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • 100% fluency in business English is required
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Powerpoint and Excel
  • Proficiency in quality-related software and tools (e.g., Minitab, statistical analysis software)
