Job description

A high growth venture backed SaaS startup that is transforming how frontline employees access essential social benefits. Their platform leverages artificial intelligence to bridge the gap between workers and vital resources like childcare and healthcare assistance. With a client roster featuring Fortune 500 companies and major healthcare providers, they are scaling their remote engineering team to meet critical upcoming regulatory shifts.

The organization is looking for a versatile Quality Engineer to take full ownership of their testing ecosystem. You will be tasked with developing a robust automation strategy from the ground up, ensuring the reliability of a complex product suite that includes web applications, external system integrations, and AI chat functionalities.

Your primary responsibilities will include building end to end test journeys and smoke suites within a CI CD environment. You will act as a quality consultant across multiple delivery teams, defining what it means for a feature to be done and coaching software engineers on improving their own testing practices. This role requires a balance of hands on coding and strategic communication, as you will be expected to provide clear risk assessments to non technical stakeholders and push back on release dates when evidence suggests a lack of stability.

Technical tasks will involve functional, regression, and accessibility testing across various devices. You will also manage API testing and handle asynchronous service flows, ensuring the system remains resilient even when external dependencies fail. Given the sensitive nature of the data involved, you will play a key role in seeding realistic test environments while maintaining strict security and data protection standards.

The ideal candidate will have at least five years of experience in quality or software engineering with a strong background in writing automation in Python or TypeScript. We are looking for someone who has experience being the sole quality expert across several teams and who can independently prioritize their own workload without a pre defined backlog. Experience testing complex business rules and navigating policy heavy environments is highly preferred.
