Job summary

POSITION SUMMARY

The Quality Engineer is responsible for customer focused quality assurance of Fujimi products. The role ensures the overall Quality System aligns with customer expectations and requirements. Responsibilities include tracking quality issues, developing solutions, adopting and implementing appropriate quality systems and procedures. The position drives quality improvement by monitoring data collected from process operations and applying problem‑solving techniques, quality verification and continuous improvement programs (CIP) for Fujimi Corporation. Strong verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to interface with technical and non‑technical personnel to lead teams to resolve quality issues or improvement initiatives, are required.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Assist Quality Assurance Manager in establishing, implementing and maintaining the quality system, including corrective actions and change‑management follow‑up/resolution.
  • Create and maintain company quality documentation, such as quality manuals and procedures.
  • Oversee Fujimi’s Process Control System (PCS) including facilitation of weekly reviews, tracking required actions and process indicators. Drive root‑cause determination for abnormal shifts, trends and outliers and develop reports as required.
  • Provide technical customer support with the Sales Account Manager regarding internal alignment with customer quality expectations, including development and tracking of CIP projects and complaint investigation, resolution and reporting.
  • Facilitate product transfers from R&D along with other Fujimi sites to ensure new products enter manufacturing in accordance with documented requirements and aligned with Customer expectations.
  • Provide statistical oversight as required and develop training to build quality awareness as required.
  • Lead and participate in internal and external audits, including ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and customer audits; prepare audit documentation, schedule audits, communicate pre‑audit or closing audit items and support the audit process.
  • Stay up to date on auditing standards, regulations, company policies and procedures to ensure accurate and compliant audits.
  • Review analytical results of other QC staff, assemble and prepare completed data packages for submission to Management and/or Customers as required.
  • Perform CIP activities to enhance the quality system, such as 5S, Kaizen, lean methods, etc.
  • Perform other job‑related duties as assigned.

Skills & Abilities
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering or similar discipline required; Master’s preferred.
  • Experience: 2–5 years of quality engineering work experience, with a strong background in statistical methods and project management.
  • Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office and JMP statistical software.
  • Certifications & Licenses: CQE preferred.
  • Other Requirements: Knowledge of ISO 9001 and/or QS 9000 standards, RBA and previous auditing experience desired; ability to utilize Six Sigma tools to resolve product/process issues; ability to read, interpret and understand technical and non‑technical documents including contracts, product drawings and specifications.

Works primarily in an office environment with occasional exposure to manufacturing, warehouse and lab environments.

MENTAL OR VISUAL DEMAND

Requires ability to think critically to coordinate efficient planning and scheduling of audits and meetings with internal stakeholders. Frequent mental visual demand to analyze complex data sets, production trends and quality metrics to identify root causes and recommend corrective actions. Must interpret technical documents, engineering drawings, specifications and regulatory standards, while maintaining high attention to detail amidst multiple priorities and deadlines. Exercise sound judgment, decision‑making and communication skills across cross‑functional teams, adapting to changing priorities, processes and continuous improvement initiatives. Ability to maintain focus and accuracy in environments with frequent interruptions or shifting production demands is essential.
