Eaton's IS AER MSD division in Orchard Park, NY is seeking a Quality Engineer to drive risk mitigation, quality improvements, and support for IPTs and product lines. You will generate inspection criteria, plan FAI, and manage nonconforming material through the quality system.

We expect a STEM degree with 1 year QA/engineering experience or an associate with 3 years, hands-on problem solving, and familiarity with APQP, D/P FMEA, AS9100/AS9102.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline with 1 year experience in quality assurance or engineering in manufacturing.
  • Associate degree in STEM with 3 years experience in quality assurance or engineering in manufacturing.

Responsibilities

  • Review customer RFQs, contracts, and flow-down of quality requirements to Eaton and suppliers.
  • Generate inspection checklists, inspection criteria, and skip lot inspections for purchased and manufactured parts.
  • Plan and execute First Article Inspections (FAI) per AS9102.
  • Support failure mode avoidance activities (D/P FMEA).
  • Execute APQP and part approval for customers.
  • Analyze and trend quality data within IPT to drive preventive and corrective actions.

Eaton’s IS AER MSD division is currently seeking a Quality Engineer. This role is based in Orchard Park, NY.The expected annual salary range for this role is $71000 - $105000 a year.Please note the salary information shown above is a general guideline only. Salaries are based upon candidate skills, experience, and qualifications, as well as market and business considerations.What you’ll do:The Quality Engineer will drive risk mitigation, quality improvement initiatives, root cause and corrective action, and lead quality engineering support for assigned Integrated Product Team (IPT) and product lines.Job ResponsibilitiesReview customer’s request for quotes, contracts, and flow-down of customer contractual quality requirements to Eaton and its suppliers.Generate inspection check lists, inspection criteria, and skip lot inspections for purchased and manufactured parts.Plan and execute First Article Inspections (FAI) in accordance with AS9102.Support failure mode avoidance activities (D/P FMEA- Design/Process Failure Mode Effects Analysis).Execute all aspects of Advanced Part Quality Planning (APQP) and part approval for customers.Process Engineering Change Orders.Responsible for the processing and disposition of nonconforming material via the Non-Conforming Reporting system.Analyze and trend quality data within IPT to drive preventive and corrective actions and continuous improvement.Participate in customer return process to include failure analysis and corrective action.Drive continuous improvement by leading root cause problem solving projects.Maintain performance management board and participate in performance management meetings.Create and communicate customer data packages for shipped product.Communicate with teams, suppliers, customers, and the government regarding all quality related issues.Act as the Eaton liaison during customer/government audits and inspections.Responsible for ensuring environmental, health, and safety are included as part of everyday activities.#LI-LD1Qualifications:Basic Qualifications:• A Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics) with 1 year of experience in quality assurance or engineering within a manufacturing environmentORAn Associates degree from an accredited institution in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics)with 3 years experience in quality assurance or engineering within a manufacturing environmentCandidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without company sponsorship now or in the future.This position requires use of information or access to hardware which is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). All applicants must be U.S. persons within the meaning of ITAR. SAE, MIL, DFAR)Ability to read and understand blueprintsProven experience specifying test chambers, equipment and/or performing selection and oversight of suppliers providing Test capabilityDemonstrated knowledge of mechanical, electrical, pneumatic systemsKnowledge of material certification testingAdvanced computer skills using MS Office applications such as Word and ExcelSkills:Soft skillsAbility to interface at all levels.Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.Good time-management skills.Attention to detail.High level of computer skills (i.e., Microsoft Office Suite: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).Highly developed human relations, communications, and internal consulting skills necessary to establish and maintain effective work relationships with the various plant functions, customer, and supplier personnel.All positions may require participation in video and in-person interviews as part of the hiring process.
