Job summary

Randstad USA is seeking a qualified Quality Engineer for our manufacturing partner in Freeland, Michigan. The role focuses on ensuring dimensional accuracy and reliability of aerospace-grade ball screws and precision‑machined components.

First shift, with hours 7 AM to 4 PM, and a Bachelor’s degree required. You will develop inspection plans, perform CMM-based measurements, analyze nonconformances, and collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and suppliers to maintain AS9100 standards.

Qualifications

• Minimum 2 years of experience in quality engineering.
• Experience level is Experienced.
• Bachelor's degree (Bachelors) required.

Responsibilities

• Ensure dimensional accuracy and reliability of aerospace-grade ball screws and precision machined components.
• Develop and execute inspection plans; validate machining processes.
• Analyze nonconformances and collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, and suppliers.
• Perform precision dimensional inspections using CMMs, optical systems, micrometers, profilometers, and thread measurement tools.
• Conduct in-machine inspection and measure parts during CNC machining to validate tool offsets and accuracy.
• Develop and maintain inspection plans, control plans, and first article inspection docs.
• Verify lead accuracy, pitch variation, straightness, runout, surface finish, and other ball screw characteristics.
• Collaborate with machinists and manufacturing engineers to ensure processes meet tolerances.

Job description

Randstad is currently working with a manufacturing company thatdesigns and manufactures electromechanical actuation systems, motion control devices, and advanced power solutions for the aerospace, defense, and medical industries. They are hiring a Quality Engineer at their facility in Freeland, MI. This is a Permanent position with our client.

• Demonstrated ability to perform in‑machine inspection and interpret measurements taken while parts remain fixtured.
• Experience with CMM programming (Calypso, PC‑DMIS, Zeiss or equivalent) and manual inspection techniques.
• Understanding of ball‑screw geometry, lead accuracy, preload, and mechanical performance characteristics.
• Familiarity with AS9100, AS9102, and aerospace quality systems.
• Analytical and problem‑solving skills, including root‑cause analysis and corrective action methodologies.
• Experience with aerospace actuation systems or precision motion components.
• Knowledge of statistical process control and advanced metrology techniques.
• Background in machining processes, CNC programming, or fixture design.
• Exposure to non‑destructive testingrelevant to mechanical components.
• Comfortable working within ERP and/or MRP systems.
