Job summary

Day & Zimmermann Company is seeking a Quality Engineer for our Munitions & Government operations in Texarkana, TX. You will lead quality engineering activities, coordinate inspections, and drive continuous improvement to meet rigorous customer and regulatory standards.

You will develop program quality plans, align internal efforts with customer requirements, and foster training, root-cause analyses, and corrective actions across teams.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Quality Engineering, Technical, or related discipline.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of quality engineering or QA experience, preferably in manufacturing/defense.

Responsibilities

Job Summary

As a Quality Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in supporting and enhancing the quality assurance processes for our Munitions & Government operations located in Texarkana, TX. Your expertise will be essential in leading quality engineering activities, coordinating inspections, and driving continuous improvement to ensure that our components and finished products meet rigorous customer and regulatory standards. This role emphasizes collaboration across departments and requires a proactive approach to problem prevention and resolution, enabling us to maintain the highest standards of product excellence and operational integrity.

By leveraging your knowledge of quality systems and engineering principles, you will contribute significantly to the development and execution of program quality plans, helping to align internal efforts with customer requirements and industry best practices. Your leadership and coordination efforts will foster a culture of quality and accountability among team members, facilitating effective training, root cause analyses, and corrective actions.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver specialized Quality Engineering support to assigned programs by planning, initiating, and executing continuous improvement and defect prevention strategies utilizing advanced problem-solving methodologies and data-driven statistical analysis techniques. Ensure compliance with military and customer technical specifications to promptly address and resolve quality issues across supplier and internal manufacturing processes.
  • Coordinate and oversee the Quality Management System (QMS) activities, including providing comprehensive training and guidance on the use of inspection methods, quality tools such as Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA), process mapping, Root Cause Analysis, Statistical Process Control (SPC), and the correct operation of inspection equipment. Facilitate team understanding and adherence to quality protocols.
  • Design and implement quality engineering projects distinct to assigned programs, encompassing planning, execution, and detailed reporting to ensure that quality considerations are fully integrated into program deliverables and manufacturing workflows.
  • Review and analyze incoming technical data for accuracy and compliance, maintaining thorough and organized documentation that supports ongoing QMS requirements and audits, ensuring readiness and traceability.
  • Administer and manage all First Article Testing and product inspections for supplied parts and ammunition items, verifying compliance with acceptance criteria and program specifications to facilitate smooth production and customer satisfaction.
  • Prepare detailed quality reports, maintain accurate records for all activities, and perform any additional duties assigned by management to support continuous operational excellence and quality assurance goals.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor's Degree in Quality Engineering, Technical, or a related Engineering/Scientific discipline (BA/BS) is required to ensure foundational knowledge and technical competency.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of relevant experience in quality engineering or quality assurance roles, preferably within manufacturing or defense-related industries, underlining a proven track record of successful quality management and process improvement.

In compliance with this state's pay transparency laws, the wage range for this role is $80,640 - $120,960. This is not a guarantee of compensation or salary, as final offer amount may vary based on factors including but not limited to experience and geographic location. (The specific programs and options available to an employee may vary depending on date of hire, schedule type, and the applicability of collective bargaining agreements).
