Job summary

Gemtron, part of SSW Advanced Technologies, LLC, seeks an Onsite Quality Engineer to design, develop, test, and evaluate integrated systems for managing industrial production processes, including quality control, inventory control, and cost analysis.

You will interpret drawings (GD&T), implement quality checks, lead corrective action, develop FMEA and control plans, train operators, and collaborate with manufacturing teams to reduce defects and scrap.

Qualifications

• A Bachelor’s Degree in engineering is required.
• 3+ years of quality engineering experience is required. Automotive industry experience preferred.
• Experience as a Direct Customer Contact with Major OEM’s
• Able to communicate, verbally or written, to internal and external contacts.
• Ability to interpret product drawings (GD&T) and technical standards.
• Ability to make formal presentations.
• Good problem-solving skills utilizing corrective action disciplines.
• Good understanding of Microsoft software packages.
• Ability to work within and lead a team.
• Experience in a variety of basic operation disciplines: Manufacturing, Quality, Process / Tooling, and Shop Floor Supervision.

Responsibilities

• Interpret product drawings and technical standards to develop and implement quality controls and product check methods.
• Responsible for product quality conditions.
• Responsible for accomplishment of External Quality goals and performance with internal goals.
• Stops production if non-conform or suspicious products are about to be produced.
• Integrates the Team for New Projects and as a role of verification on the use of good methodologies.
• Participates in Lean process development.
• Initiate 8-Ds when required for customer or internal rejects and follow up with effective problem-solving efforts by creating teams to determine root cause, corrective action, and verification.
• Implement improvements on the manufacturing floor and work on internal quality issues
• Provide training to operators
• Work closely with manufacturing floor side activities.
• Utilize preventative quality techniques to improve product quality, reduce in-line defects, and reduce scrap.
• Lead Corrective Action activities and communicate to the customer or suppliers as required.
• Develop, review and maintain FMEA’s, Control Plans, and Quality Check Sheets.

The Onsite Quality Engineer will design, develop, test, and evaluate integrated systems for managing industrial production processes, including human work factors, quality control, inventory control, logistics and material flow, cost analysis, and production coordination.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Interpret product drawings and technical standards in order to develop and implement quality controls and product check methods.
2. Responsible for product quality conditions.
3. Responsible for accomplishment of External Quality goals and performance assuring coherence with the corresponding internal goals.
4. Stops production if non-conform or suspicious products are about to be produced.
5. Integrates the Team for New Projects and as a role of verification on the use of the good methodologies.
