Anchor Harvey in Schaumburg, IL is seeking a skilled Quality Engineer with hands-on metal manufacturing experience and PPAP expertise to ensure manifolds, spindles, jacks, hubs and other precision components meet internal and customer quality standards.

You will perform dimensional and visual inspections, prepare PPAP packages, review drawings, conduct incoming, in-process and final inspections, and support audits and continuous improvement initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Engineering degree required.
  • 4+ years in metal manufacturing quality roles.
  • Strong PPAP knowledge and submission experience.
  • Familiarity with machining processes and metal fabrication.
  • Proficient in reading GD&T and technical drawings.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949.
  • Knowledge of metallurgy and surface finish requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Perform dimensional and visual inspections with precision tools.
  • Prepare and submit PPAP packages (Levels 1-5).
  • Review drawings and specifications for compliance.
  • Conduct incoming, in-process and final inspections of machined parts.
  • Maintain quality documentation (control plans, FMEAs, PFMEA, process flows).
  • Collaborate with teams to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Support internal and external audits (ISO 9001, IATF 16949).
  • Assist in root cause analysis and preventive actions.
  • Monitor and report quality metrics and trends.

Position Purpose

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Quality Engineer with hands-on experience in metal manufacturing and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP). This role is critical in ensuring that products such as manifolds, spindles, jacks, hubs, and other precision metal components meet internal and customer quality standards. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing inspections, preparing PPAP documentation, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Position Purpose

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Quality Engineer with hands-on experience in metal manufacturing and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP). This role is critical in ensuring that products such as manifolds, spindles, jacks, hubs, and other precision metal components meet internal and customer quality standards. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing inspections, preparing PPAP documentation, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

Essential Functions
  • Perform dimensional and visual inspections on metal components using precision measuring tools (e.g., calipers, micrometers, height gauges, CMM).
  • Prepare and submit complete PPAP packages (Levels 1-5) in accordance with customer and industry requirements.
  • Review engineering drawings and specifications to ensure product compliance.
  • Conduct incoming, in-process, and final inspections of machined and fabricated metal parts.
  • Maintain and update quality documentation including control plans, FMEAs, and process flow diagrams.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, and suppliers to resolve quality issues and implement corrective actions.
  • Support internal and external audits (ISO 9001, IATF 16949, customer audits).
  • Assist in root cause analysis and implementation of preventive measures.
  • Monitor and report on quality metrics and trends.
Education And Training
  • Engineering degree required.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in a quality role within a metal manufacturing environment.
  • Strong knowledge of PPAP documentation and submission processes.
  • Familiarity with machining processes, metal fabrication, and mechanical components.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting technical drawings and GD&T.
  • Experience with quality tools such as Control Plans, FMEA, Gage R&R, and SPC.
  • Experience with ISO 9001 and IATF 16949 standards.
  • Knowledge of metallurgy and surface finish requirements.
  • Familiarity with ERP and QMS software systems.
