Job summary

Emerald Technologies in Saline, MI is seeking a Quality Engineer who is analytical, solutions‑driven, and passionate about continuous improvement. You will monitor PCBAs and manufacturing processes to ensure the highest quality, collaborating with Engineering, Production and Supply Chain to drive root‑cause analysis and improve process capability.

You will lead RCCA/CAPA, support inspections, apply SPC/MSA methods, and help ensure compliance with AS9100, ISO 13485 and NADCAP.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a comparable engineering/manufacturing degree.
  • 3–5 years in electronics manufacturing with at least 2+ years in quality engineering required.
  • Strong understanding of PCBA processes and quality systems.
  • Proficiency with AS9100, ISO 9001/13485, and audits.

Responsibilities

  • Lead RCCA investigations and implement CAPA to resolve issues.
  • Perform X-ray validations and support product acceptability decisions.
  • Develop and maintain quality plans, sampling criteria, and control plans.
  • Apply SPC tools and assist in developing statistical methods for process improvement.
  • Conduct internal audits to verify compliance with AS9100/ISO standards.
  • Interpret drawings/specifications and ensure alignment with Mil‑Spec requirements.
  • Establish and report KPIs to highlight trends and improvement opportunities.

As aQuality Engineer , you will ensure our PCBA products and manufacturing processes consistently meet the highest quality standards by monitoring performance, resolving issues, and strengthening our quality systems. You’ll collaborate closely with Engineering, Production, and Supply Chain teams to drive root‑cause analysis, improve process capability, and support inspection teams with technical guidance.

Responsibilities of the Quality Engineer
  • Lead root‑cause investigations (RCCA) and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to resolve quality issues and verify effectiveness.
  • Perform X‑ray validations and support decision‑making on product acceptability based on inspection results.
  • Develop and maintain Quality Attribute Plans, inspection criteria, sampling plans, and control plans to ensure consistent product quality.
  • Apply SPC tools (control charts, capability studies, MSA) and assist in developing statistical methods to monitor and improve manufacturing processes.
  • Conduct internal supplemental audits to verify compliance with AS9100, ISO 13485, NADCAP, and internal SOPs.
  • Interpret customer drawings and specifications, including Mil‑Spec requirements, and collaborate with Engineering and Production to ensure product and process alignment.
  • Establish and report key performance indicators (KPIs) to highlight trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
Qualifications of the Quality Engineer
  • Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or a comparable degree within engineering or manufacturing preferred
  • 3–5 years of experience in electronics manufacturing, PCB assembly, or related industries, with at least 2+ years in quality engineeringrequired
  • Strong understanding of PCBA processes, including soldering, reflow, AOI, ICT, functional testing, and inspection methods required.
  • Working knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001/13485, and experience supporting audits and compliance activities required.
  • IPC‑A‑610 and/or J‑STD‑001 certification required; CIT, ASQ CQE, or other technical certifications preferred.
  • Proficiency in Statistical Process Control (SPC), MSA, capability studies, and data‑driven problem solving.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, specifications, and technical documentation.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to interact effectively with internal teams, customers, and suppliers.
