Job summary

Hexcel is seeking a Quality Engineer for Pottsville, PA, to support the quality system and lead investigations into product and process defects. You will work with engineering, production, and management to uphold high quality standards at the site.

The role requires a technical bachelor’s degree and at least two years in quality or manufacturing, with exposure to SPC/DOE and GD&T. Strong communication and teamwork are essential as we pursue lean improvements.

We invite you to join the Hexcel team at various manufacturing sites, sales offices and R&D centers around the globe. Hexcel is currently seeking a Quality Engineer for our Pottsville, PA, USA location.

Responsibilities
  • Support maintenance of comprehensive quality system.
  • Lead and/or participate in activities associated with root cause investigation for product and process defects.
  • Ensure best practice of new product introduction and process validation.
  • Coordinate lab testing for verification and validation of raw materials.
  • Assist in tool design as needed for process inspections.
  • Perform standard quality engineering tasks including non-conforming material disposition, non-conforming cost/trend analysis, corrective/preventive action, customer/internal MRB, process improvements (includes scrap reduction), automation of systems, inspection criteria, specification and contract review, and communication to and training of personnel.
  • While operating in the boundaries of Lean Principles, lead, guide, and direct lean implementation and training initiatives, including 6S, TPM, Kaizen, Flow Manufacturing, JIT, Kanban, and Rapid Improvement Workshops.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field such as Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, or Statistics, or related degree is required.
  • Minimum of two (2) years of related experience in production or quality or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong knowledge of quality systems, supplier management, internal audits, and overall troubleshooting or problem-solving capabilities.
  • Strong leadership and able to work effectively with engineering, production personnel, and management.
  • Root cause investigation experience.
  • Knowledge and/or use of Six Sigma methods and continuous improvement techniques preferred.
  • Good math and analytical skills including a working knowledge of statistical techniques (SPC, SQC, DOE).
  • Excellent written, verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to read drawings, interpret written procedures and instruction and understand geometric dimensioning and tolerances (GD&T).
  • Knowledge of AS9100/ISO and NADCAP preferred.
  • Knowledge of using 3D Modeling Software, CATIA is preferred.
