The Quality Engineer for Mascoma Technologies is responsible for developing and implementing testing strategies and methodologies, creating and executing test plans and test cases, and ensuring procedures are documented, communicated, and proactively managed. The Quality Engineer will collaborate with peers to manage, schedule, and organize testing activities needed to deliver high-quality products.

Essential Functions of Position

  1. Participate in team planning sessions concerning product creation or modification.
  2. Collaborate with product management, software development, stakeholders, implementation, and support teams.
  3. Lead the implementation of testing platforms.
  4. Design test plans, scenarios, scripts, and procedures.
  5. Use various testing tools and techniques, including manual and automated testing, to identify and report software defects.
  6. Ensure software products meet quality standards and compliance requirements.
  7. Participate in team retrospectives, providing and receiving feedback constructively.
  8. Be involved in code reviews, performance testing, and documentation review to ensure quality and usability standards are met.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience as a manual tester.
  • Experience in creating test plans and test cases from system requirements and user stories.
  • Ability to develop and validate comprehensive testing plans for automation applications.
  • Strong analytical skills with keen attention to detail.
  • Understanding of modern testing frameworks and strategies (functional, non-functional, end-to-end, regression testing).
  • Problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively to support a positive end-user experience.
  • Willingness to learn business practices, processes, and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently, meet deadlines, and participate in team meetings.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Maintain confidentiality and privacy.

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

  • Flexible working hours, including after-hours work.
  • Travel and training attendance as required.
  • Normal physical activity with minimal physical effort.
  • May involve incidental use of business machines.
  • Work involves stationary positioning and movement within the workspace.
  • Work environment is well-lit and ventilated.

This position can be performed remotely within our service areas.
