Job description

Quality Engineer – Be the Voice of Quality From Our Floor to Our Customers and from Our Customers Floor to Our Floor!

Quality isn’t just about finding a defect. It’s about understanding why it happened, preventing it from happening again, and giving customers confidence in the products they receive.

At CDF Corporation, we manufacture flexible packaging solutions used in applications where quality, consistency, food safety, and regulatory compliance matter. We’re looking for aQuality Engineerwho is ready to take ownership of that responsibility—from the manufacturing floor all the way to our customers.

This isn’t a Quality Engineer position where you’ll spend your entire day reviewing reports or waiting for problems to reach your desk. You’ll be actively involved in our processes, working alongside Manufacturing, Process Engineering, Maintenance, Customer Service, and Quality Control to strengthen the systems that protect our products and our customers.

And when a customer has a quality concern? You’ll own the process.

You’ll Be the Customer’s Quality Partner

When a customer raises a quality concern, you’ll take ownership from beginning to end.

You’ll investigate what happened, coordinate root cause analysis, drive corrective actions, verify that those actions were effective, prepare clear and professional reports, and communicate directly with the customer throughout the process.

You’ll help ensure our customers never feel like their concern disappeared into a system.

You’ll also own onsite customer quality visits and, when necessary, travel to customer facilities to see an issue firsthand, gather information, and work collaboratively toward a resolution.

Beyond resolving individual concerns, you’ll help us understand the bigger picture by developing Voice of the Customer metrics, customer scorecards, and quality trends that allow us to identify opportunities before they become recurring problems.

Quality in Food Packaging Comes With a Bigger Responsibility

Our products are used infood-contact packaging applications, which means quality cannot stop at dimensional specifications or visual inspection.

Regulatory compliance and food safety are fundamental parts of the job.

You’ll help ensure our products and processes meet applicable food-contact packaging requirements, customer specifications, regulatory expectations, and industry standards. You’ll own regulatory and compliance information, respond to customer documentation requests, and help ensure CDF is prepared when customers or auditors come through our doors.

You’ll also support regulatory, customer, and ISO audits, helping demonstrate that our systems don’t simply look good on paper—they are understood, followed, documented, and effective on the manufacturing floor.

We Want to Prevent Problems, Not Just Catch Them

Inspection is important. Prevention is better.

A major part of your role will be strengthening our Quality Management System and developing controls that make our processes more consistent and less dependent on individual judgment.

You’ll use tools such as SPC, Control Plans, validation, root cause analysis, corrective action, Layered Process Audits, mistake-proofing, and data analysis to identify variation and build stronger processes.

  • Why is this defect occurring?
  • Is the process beginning to drift before we produce nonconforming product?
  • Can we engineer this risk out of the process instead of relying on someone to catch it?
  • How can we turn what our experienced Quality Technicians know into a repeatable, documented system?

That may mean improving first-piece inspections, validating inspection cameras, establishing wear-part replacement strategies, identifying special-cause variation, validating quality sorts and rework, or developing stronger process controls.

Data Should Tell Us Where to Look Next

You’ll own and analyze key quality performance information, including yield, scrap, stop points, SPC trends, corrective actions, and customer quality data.

But we’re not looking for someone who simply reports the numbers.

We want someone who asks why.

You’ll develop dashboards and trend analyses that help turn quality data into action and partner with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Maintenance to address the issues behind the numbers.

You’ll Bring

We’re looking for someone who combines technical quality knowledge with strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Ideally, you’ll bring:

  • A bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Industrial Engineering, or a related field
  • At least three years of quality experience within a manufacturing environment
  • Experience in plastics, packaging, or another highly regulated manufacturing environment
  • Knowledge of ISO quality systems, SPC, validation, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and continuous improvement
  • Familiarity withfood-contact packaging regulations and customer compliance requirements
  • Experience developing production and launch Control Plans
  • DMAIC/Six Sigma training is a plus
  • Strong Excel and quality-data-analysis skills
  • The confidence to communicate directly with customers and participate in customer and regulatory audits
  • The ability to influence and lead cross-functional teams even when they don’t report directly to you
What Success Looks Like

You’ll know you’re making an impact when we’re seeing fewer customer complaints, fewer repeat issues, stronger corrective actions, better process controls, successful audits, reduced human error, and customers who trust how CDF responds when a quality concern occurs.

Ultimately, this role is about creating confidence.

Confidence for our customers that their concerns will be heard and resolved.

Confidence that our food-contact packaging meets applicable regulatory and customer requirements.

And confidence inside our manufacturing operations that quality is being built into the process—not inspected into the product afterward.

If you’re a Quality Engineer who enjoys getting to the root of problems, working directly with customers, strengthening manufacturing processes, and taking ownership from investigation through resolution, we’d like to hear from you.
