Job summary

Rishabh RPO seeks a Quality Engineer in Plano, TX for a 6+ month contract at a rate of $66 hourly. Hybrid work with onsite Wednesdays. You will design and execute extensive tests across multi-step financial workflows, including end-to-end and non-functional testing, and validate audits and controls.

Responsibilities include SQL validation, API testing, and producing audit-ready artifacts. Strong collaboration with engineering, accounting, and controls teams is essential.

• Test maker-checker workflows and role-based access boundaries, including negative cases via API testing.
• Test event-driven workflows across services, validate message delivery, processing order, and idempotency.
• Ensure audit events are generated for every state change with accurate content/timestamps.
• Test inbound/outbound data for schema correctness and reconciliation.
• Produce audit-ready artifacts for external auditors; track defects end-to-end.
• Maintain automated test suites integrated into CI/CD pipelines.

Job Title: Quality Engineer

What we're looking for

We are looking for someone who can work effectively across engineering leadership, business and financial stakeholders, technology subject-matter experts, and controls-focused teams. This person should be comfortable partnering with developers building the system, accounting and SOX stakeholders defining control requirements, and other teams involved in integrations, releases, and audit readiness.

• The ideal candidate brings strong experience testing end-to-end financial system services, including REST APIs, event-driven workflows, external integrations, and data integrations.
• They should be able to design tests that validate non-functional requirements as part of automated testing within CI/CD pipelines.
• They should demonstrate critical thinking, attention to detail, and the ability to translate business, control, technical, and non-functional requirements into clear, executable test cases.
• They should be documentation-minded, able to produce evidence that stands up to external audit, and comfortable moving between engineering conversations and SOX/internal-controls discussions.

This role requires someone who can communicate clearly, ask thoughtful questions, identify gaps or ambiguity, and help ensure the software solution is correct, controlled, traceable, and audit ready

What you'll be doing

• Design and execute functional, regression, integration, end-to-end, and non-functional (NFR) test plans across multi-step financial workflows and state transitions
• Validate complex financial computations, reconcile data across transactional and analytical layers, and write SQL queries against the system of record to verify correctness and consistency
• Translate SOX, internal-control, business, and technical requirements into executable test cases in partnership with developers, accounting, and control stakeholders
• Test maker-checker workflows, role-based access boundaries, and segregation-of-duties controls, including negative cases, via API testing
• Test event-driven workflows across services, validating message delivery, processing order, idempotency, and failure handling
• Validate that audit events are generated for every controlled state change (UI, batch, API), captured with accurate content and timestamps in an append-only, immutable evidence store
• Test inbound data from third-party valuation/pricing systems and outbound payloads to systems of record for schema correctness, completeness, failure handling, and reconciliation
• Produce audit-ready artifacts, including test plans, results narratives, and evidence packages, that stand alone during external-auditor fieldwork without additional explanation
• Track defects through their full lifecycle, from identification through resolution, ensuring traceability and closure
• Design and maintain automated test suites, integrating repeatable test scenarios into CI/CD pipelines to validate functional and non-functional requirements on every release
• Generate and manage test data
• Review logs, query data, and troubleshoot issues across application, integration, and data layers
• Participate in sprint ceremonies, release readiness reviews, and production support triage as needed

Help establish and improve QA processes, standards, and best practices.

What You'll Bring

• 3+ years of QA/test engineering experience supporting backend financial, fintech, or regulated systems
• Proficiency in Python with hands‑on experience using pytest for test automation
• Strong test automation skills with experience integrating tests into CI/CD pipelines (Playwright a plus)
• Strong SQL skills for non‑trivial data validation, reconciliation, and control testing
• SOX or internal‑controls testing experience, including segregation‑of‑duties, maker‑checker workflows, and audit‑reviewed evidence
• Experience testing REST APIs (Postman, REST‑assured, or similar)
• Critical thinking and attention to detail, able to identify ambiguity, validate assumptions, and produce clear, complete, audit‑ready documentation

Effective communicator who moves fluidly between engineering, business/control stakeholders, and audit-facing discussions

• Experience with Java services and testing within Java‑based microservice environments
• Experience testing financial data for correctness, including calculations, reconciliations, balances, or valuation‑related outputs
• Experience validating immutable or append‑only audit data
• Experience with FastAPI backends and PostgreSQL systems of record
• Experience working in financial services, fintech, accounting‑adjacent systems, or other highly regulated environments
• Knowledge of cloud services and deployment patterns in AWS
• Familiarity with Agile/Scrum delivery practices
