Job summary

Metro Plastics Technologies, Inc. in Noblesville, IN is seeking a Quality Engineer to own our product quality standards by establishing robust QC systems and clear product requirements.

You will monitor production processes, perform root cause analysis, support ISO 9001:2015 audits, and collaborate with departments to drive continuous improvement and customer satisfaction. Experience with GD&T, PPAP, and CMM/vision equipment is valued.

Qualifications

  • H.S. Diploma or associate degree in related field preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in a technical field desired.
  • Thorough understanding of quality assurance terminology, methods, and tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Six Sigma certification preferred.
  • Familiar with the PPAP process.
  • Strong understanding of GD&T.
  • Strong blueprint reading skills and understanding.
  • Self-starter and able to effectively work without close supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor production process quality controls and resolve quality concerns.
  • Assist with system audits to ISO 9001:2015 standards.
  • Interpret product specifications and drawings.
  • Interpret testing procedures and support reports.
  • Maintain and update work instructions and logs per ISO records.
  • Root cause analysis and MRB communications.
  • Support QA staff to ensure QMS adherence and improve processes.
  • Apply quality methodologies to meet supplier quality standards and drive improvements.
  • Conduct root cause investigations and troubleshooting.
  • Advise QA technicians on proper use of measurement equipment.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to improve product quality and customer satisfaction.
  • Occasional travel to customer sites to resolve quality concerns.
  • Support QA strategic plans and objectives as directed by the Quality Manager.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job description

Metro Plastics Technologies is an industry leader in custom plastic injection molding. With over 50 years in business, Metro Plastics has extensive plastic production capabilities, engineering expertise, and a dedicated on-site tool room and metrology lab supporting operations in a newly built state-of-the-art facility in Noblesville, IN.

PURPOSE: Our custom injection molding facility is seeking a Quality Engineer to take ownership of company standards for products by establishing quality control systems and setting product requirement rules. Their duties include identifying the specifications for an ideal product, determining an appropriate level of variation and monitoring quality assurance rates.

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • The role of the Quality Engineer encompasses the execution, ongoing enhancement, and documentation of tasks that monitor the effectiveness of controls on the production process and ensure prompt resolution of quality concerns that may have an impact on the consumer.
  • Assist with system audit in accordance with ISO 9001:2015 standards.
  • Ability to interpret product specifications and drawings
  • Ability to interpret testing procedures and support reports based on findings
  • Maintain and update work instructions, forms, logs according to certification of ISO records.
  • Root Cause analysis and communication of findings through internal Material Review Board workflow
  • Support training and aid Quality Department staff in carrying out their job responsibilities to guarantee that products and processes adhere to the pertinent criteria of the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Execute methodologies pertaining to quality process control, process enhancement, inspection, and testing. Advocate for and implement quality protocols, strategies, inspection schemes, testing frameworks, quality strategies, documentation, and reports.
  • Employ quality methodologies and tools to meet the quality standards of suppliers and to ensure ongoing continuous improvement.
  • Conduct root cause analysis, investigation, and troubleshooting of product or production issues.
  • Advise and direct Quality Technicians on the correct utilization of Smart Scope and other gauges for measuring purposes.
  • Promote customer contentment through collaborative efforts with internal departments to enhance product quality. Create solutions, corrective measures, and enhancements.
  • Occasional travel to customer sites to assist in resolving quality concerns.
  • Support implementation of strategic plans and implements QA objectives set by the Quality Manager
  • Other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:
  • H.S. Diploma or associate degree: technical or vocational school training in related field of study a plus
  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical field is desired
  • Thorough understanding of quality assurance terminology, methods, and tools.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Six Sigma certification is preferred.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
  • Work is performed in a manufacturing environment.
  • Employee will stand or walk most of their work hours.
  • Employee will routinely use hands to finger, handle, or feel, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
  • Employee will occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, and ability to adjust focus.
