Qualifications

Job Description
Quality Engineer – AS9100
Position Overview

Our client is seeking an experienced Quality Engineer responsible for ensuring manufactured parts and products meet customer expectations, engineering specifications, and applicable quality management system requirements.

This individual will support the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the organization's Quality Management System (QMS) while ensuring compliance with applicable industry standards, including AS9100 and NADCAP.

The ideal candidate has experience working within a highly regulated manufacturing environment, preferably aerospace and defense, and possesses a strong understanding of quality engineering, internal auditing, statistical methods, technical drawings, and continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities
Quality Engineering
  • Develop and maintain quality procedures based on customer requirements and process specifications.
  • Ensure manufactured parts meet customer, engineering, and quality requirements.
  • Monitor, test, and inspect products to verify compliance with specified standards.
  • Review customer and engineering drawings to identify key characteristics and critical items.
  • Evaluate manufacturing and quality data to identify potential issues and improvement opportunities.
  • Develop measurable quality improvement plans.
Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Assist the Quality Director with the implementation and ongoing maintenance of the Quality Management System.
  • Ensure documented practices accurately reflect QMS standards and requirements.
  • Support compliance with external quality standards, including:
    • AS9100
    • NADCAP
    • Applicable ISO quality management standards
  • Identify areas of noncompliance and support corrective actions and process improvements.
  • Maintain appropriate quality documentation and records.
Auditing & Compliance
  • Perform and lead internal quality audits.
  • Ensure organizational readiness for external, customer, and certification audits.
  • Evaluate processes and procedures for compliance with established quality requirements.
  • Assist in identifying and resolving audit findings.
  • Support continued compliance with applicable aerospace and defense quality standards.
Statistical Quality & Sampling
  • Develop and maintain sampling plans using recognized statistical methods.
  • Analyze quality and manufacturing data to identify trends and potential issues.
  • Collect, analyze, and summarize data to support quality decisions.
  • Prepare reports and provide recommendations based on quality findings.
  • Use measurable data to support continuous improvement initiatives.
Inspection & Product Quality
  • Monitor and inspect products to ensure compliance with customer and engineering requirements.
  • Review technical documentation, drawings, and specifications.
  • Identify critical product characteristics and quality requirements.
  • Work with internal teams to address product or process quality concerns.
  • Help ensure quality requirements are maintained throughout production.
  • Develop and support measurable quality improvement initiatives.
  • Identify opportunities to improve quality processes and procedures.
  • Use quality data and audit findings to recommend corrective and preventative improvements.
  • Partner with internal teams to strengthen overall quality performance.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or a related field.
  • Demonstrated advanced-level experience in a similar Quality Engineering position.
  • Experience working in accordance with ISO-based Quality Management Systems.
  • Experience with AS9100.
  • Experience with or knowledge of NADCAP requirements.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical and engineering documents.
  • Experience reviewing engineering drawings and identifying critical characteristics.
  • Understanding of statistical sampling methods and quality analysis.
  • Strong organizational and prioritization skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and changing priorities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Must be able to obtain a security clearance if required.
  • Must meet applicable U.S. Person requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous aerospace or defense manufacturing experience.
  • Strong hands-on experience working within an AS9100-certified environment.
  • NADCAP experience.
  • Experience performing or leading internal quality audits.

Travel Requirements
