Summary

SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Under general supervision, the Quality Engineer is responsible for validating systems, processes and procedures. The Quality Engineer also handles documentation related to Quality (PPAP, SPAP, APQP, 8D etc). ISO 9001:2015 compliance and corrective actions are also in the purview of the Quality Engineer.

Reports to the Director of Quality Assurance

Essential Duties And Responsibilities

This list of duties and responsibilities is not all-inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities, as management may deem necessary from time to time.

  • Read, understand, and follow blueprints, job order specifications, engineering drawings (including GD&T)
  • Record, analyze and interpret data, communicate test results, and support the performance of statistical analysis when needed.
  • Troubleshoots production development problems related to parts and/or assemblies; recommends improvements and/or solutions.
  • Assists in the verification of implemented quality improvements to the manufacturing process.
  • Using problem solving techniques (8D, 3 legged 5 whys, Ishikawa Diagram), reports root cause of product and/or part failures.
  • Provides technical assistance and training in quality techniques and services.
  • Complete and maintain all necessary and associated paperwork.
  • Understand and work within ISO requirements and processes.
  • Knowledge of Control Plans, Product Failure Mode Effect Analysis (PFMEA), and Flow Diagrams and how they related to Production Part Approval Process (PPAP)
  • Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Adhere to all Super Steel and OSHA safety related work rules and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform essential duties satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or abilities required.

  • Bachelors Degree in Engineering or related field preferred.
  • High school diploma or general education (GED) required.
  • 5 or more years of quality control, engineering, welding, and related field experience in a heavy metal fabrication environment.
  • Must be able to read and use calipers, scale, ruler, tape measure, and similar.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, job orders, and customer specs.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, specifications, and memos.
  • Able to confidently communicate and present facts verbally and in writing.
  • Certified Weld Inspector credentials preferred.
  • AWS D1.1, 1.2, 1.3 and 1.6 accredited preferred.
  • Non-Destructive Testing (LT, PT, MT, and UT) experience preferred.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments while prioritizing workflow.
  • A self-motivated, detail-oriented critical thinker who can make practical business decisions.
  • Ability to work well individually and in a team environment.
  • Apply general mathematical concepts to practical situations, including interpreting measurements as well as using measuring devices and power tools.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
