Job summary

CompX National in Mauldin, SC is seeking a Quality Engineer to support customer and supplier relations, audits, and continuous improvement initiatives.

The role requires knowledge of ISO 9000:2015 standards, APQP tools, root cause analysis, and data-driven problem solving. Strong communication and teamwork skills are essential for success.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering or 5 years of equivalent Quality Engineering experience.
  • 1–3 years of experience in Quality/Engineering fields preferred.
  • Experience with ISO 9001:2015 is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as primary contact with customer/supplier representatives and attend meetings, reviews, and audits.
  • Maintain quality systems in accordance with ISO 9000:2015 standards.
  • Verify corrective actions and prepare customer communications on quality issues.
  • Participate in internal and external quality audits.
  • Perform root cause analysis of quality problems.
  • Apply APQP tools such as Process Flow, PFMEA, Control Plan, PPAP, and SPC.

Job Responsibilities:



  • Serve as the primary source of contact with customer/supplier representatives. Maintain a positive relationship, deliver excellent communication, and support and attend meetings, reviews, and audits.

  • Ensure that the quality systems are maintained in accordance with ISO9000:2015 standards.

  • Verify corrective actions and prepare problem solving customer correspondence related to quality concerns or issues.

  • Participate in internal and external quality audits.

  • Perform root cause analysis of technical quality problems.

  • Utilize and apply the appropriate APQP tools (e.g. Process Flow, PFMEA, Control Plan, PPAP, SPC).


Required Qualifications:



  • 1-3 years of experience working in the field of Quality, Engineering, or similar

  • Experience leading teams in troubleshooting issues in manufacturing

  • Deep understanding of APQP and SPC concepts both theoretical and practical application, CMM equipment and data analysis, problem statements and root cause analysis, and common problem-solving methods and techniques

  • Able to read and understand blueprints - Machining experience is a plus

  • Solid understanding of fixture design concepts

  • Competency in basic metrology equipment and measuring tools such as calipers, comparators, micrometers, etc.

  • Intermediate to advanced computer proficiency (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

  • Adept in analyzing data such as normal distribution charts, trend charts, control charts, etc.

  • Expertise in analysis and problem solving

  • Excellent verbal, written communication, and interpersonal skills

  • Efficient in organization and planning


Required Education:



  • Bachelor’s degree in Quality, Industrial, or Mechanical Engineering with 1 year of Quality Engineering experience; or 5 years of equivalent Quality Engineering experience or similarly related function


Preferred Qualifications:



  • Professional certification, such as Certified Quality Auditor for ISO 9001:2015, CQE, etc.
