Job summary

Curries, an ASSA ABLOY branded company, is expanding its Engineering Team in Mason City, IA with a Quality Engineer role on-site. The position focuses on implementing and sustaining the QMS, driving continuous improvement, and reducing defects through Lean Six Sigma methods.

The candidate should have 3+ years in a quality production environment, strong problem‑solving and collaboration skills, and familiarity with ISO 9001 and gage/inspection systems.

Qualifications

  • Associate’s degree required; Bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a quality production environment.
  • Lean/Six Sigma Green certification preferred.
  • ASQ CQE Certification a plus.
  • ISO 9001:2015 Internal or other quality management systems preferred.
  • Subject matter expert on Quality systems; gage and inspection systems with defined CARS and remediation to drive performance improvements.
  • Implementation, supporting and/or improving Quality Management System (QMS) preferred.
  • Understand and develop systems to support ISO 9001.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop effective teams without extensive oversight.
  • Excellent collaborative, analytical, problem-solving and communication skills.
  • Proficient using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.).
  • Ability to multi-task and handle tasks or projects with competing priorities.

Responsibilities

  • Implement and sustain elements of the QMS, including corrective actions, supplier quality, and audit processes.
  • Deploy Process Controls and train teams to improve COPQ performance.
  • Conduct root‑cause analysis and corrective actions to eliminate defects.
  • Develop process controls to reduce variation and meet control limits.
  • Update SOPs, operator work instructions and training materials for continuous improvement.
  • Monitor and analyze product and process quality to meet customer requirements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with production to identify defect root causes during manufacturing.
  • Analyze data with Quality Manager to implement preventative actions.
  • Facilitate Lean Six Sigma improvements across the plant and promote quality excellence.
  • Manage site RMA/RFC processes with Warranty Claims Manager.
  • Ensure compliance with laws, policies and the Code of Conduct.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job description

If you answered yes to these questions, then this position could be for you! Curries, an ASSA ABLOY branded company, is building out our Engineering Team! We are adding a Quality Engineer role that will be based on-site at our Mason City, Iowa facility.

What will you do as our Quality Engineer?
  • Implement and sustain elements of the QMS (Quality Management System). These include corrective actions, supplier quality management, customer complaints, change control, audit processes, standard procedures, test methods and process.
  • Deploy Process Controls throughout the operating system, teaming with operations to improve COPQ performance and conduct training to achieve goal.
  • Conduct formal root‑cause analysis and corrective actions to understand and eliminate defective products.
  • Help develop process controls to reduce process variation to target control limits.
  • Routinely update SOP’s, operator work instructions, and training materials to reflect continuous improvement to quality.
  • Monitor, control, and analyze product and process quality to meet internal and external customer requirements.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Partner with production in detecting root causes for defects during production phases.
  • Work with Quality Manager in analyzing data for purpose of developing and implementing preventative measures to limit or eliminate quality defects.
  • Facilitate Lean Six Sigma process improvement opportunities throughout the plant and be an ambassador for quality and process excellence.
  • Be responsible for site RMA/RFC process to include evaluation, processing, and corrective actions and disposition, in concert with Warranty Claims Manager.
  • Assure compliance with state, federal and local and corporate governance policies, regulations and laws, AADG programs and policies and the ASSA ABLOY Code of Conduct.
  • Other duties as assigned.
