Job summary

RH Aero Systems in Mason, Ohio seeks a hands-on Quality Engineer to drive root-cause analysis, CAPA, and continuous improvement in aerospace manufacturing. You will champion data-driven quality initiatives and partner with teams to meet stringent specifications.

The role requires at least 5–10 years of related experience, AS9100 knowledge, and a proactive approach to quality engineering in a regulated environment. On-site position with opportunities for impact.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, manufacturing, aerospace, or industrial engineering.
  • 5–10 years of quality engineering experience in regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt preferred.
  • Experience with AS9100 and ISO 9001 quality systems.
  • Strong data-analysis and problem‑solving skills.
  • Ability to read GD&T and engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

  • Lead structured problem-solving activities using Six Sigma, DMAIC, DIVE, Shainin, and other quality methodologies.
  • Perform root cause analysis and implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Analyze quality data and trends to identify opportunities for process improvement and defect reduction.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to reduce nonconformances, scrap, and customer escapes.
  • Support the Quality Management System (QMS) maintenance and AS9100 compliance.
  • Serve as a quality resource for customer inquiries, investigations, and actions.
  • Collaborate with Manufacturing, Engineering, and Suppliers on quality issues.
  • Review engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements for compliance.

If you are motivated by continuous improvement, cross-functional collaboration, and work that directly supports operational excellence, this role offers the chance to contribute in a meaningful way. ️ What You Will Do?Quality Engineering & Continuous ImprovementLead structured problem-solving activities using Six Sigma, DMAIC, DIVE, Shainin, and other quality engineering methodologies.Perform root cause analysis and implement effective corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) for internal and external quality issues.Analyze quality data and trends to identify opportunities for process improvement and defect reduction.Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on reducing nonconformances, scrap, rework, and customer escapes.Utilize statistical analysis and quality tools to support data-driven decision making.Quality Systems & ComplianceSupport the implementation, maintenance, and continuous improvement of the Quality Management System (QMS) in accordance with AS9100 and applicable regulatory requirements.Ensure quality processes, procedures, and records are maintained and compliant with customer and industry requirements.Customer & Supplier QualityServe as a quality representative and technical resource for customer quality inquiries, investigations, and corrective actions.Lead customer complaint investigations and ensure timely resolution through sustainable corrective actions.Partner with Supply Chain and suppliers to improve supplier quality performance and address supplier-related nonconformances.Manufacturing Quality SupportPartner with Manufacturing and Engineering teams to improve process performance and product quality.Support inspection planning, first article inspections (FAI), and validation activities.Review engineering drawings, specifications, and customer requirements to ensure compliance.Assist with the development and implementation of inspection methods, tooling, fixtures, and gauges.Provide technical guidance on dimensional inspection methods, CMM applications, and measurement system effectiveness What You Will Bring?Strong analytical and problem-solving mindset.Results-oriented with a focus on achieving quality objectives and performance metrics.Effective communicator capable of working across all levels of the organization.Self-motivated and adaptable in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.Demonstrated ability to influence change through data and collaborative problem solving.Commitment to continuous improvement and operational excellence.Bachelor’s degree in mechanical, Manufacturing, Aerospace, Industrial, or related Engineering discipline.Minimum of 5-10 years of quality engineering experience in aerospace, aviation, automotive, or other regulated manufacturing environments.Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification preferred.Experience with Shainin Red X, DMAIC, DIVE, or equivalent advanced problem-solving methodologies.Experience implementing and improving AS9100-compliant quality systems.Strong understanding of statistical analysis, SPC, process capability studies, and quality engineering tools.Experience conducting root cause investigations and corrective action management.Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, GD&T, and specifications.Experience with precision machining, fabrication, or assembly environments preferred.Experience with tooling design, manufacturing fixtures, and inspection gauges.CMM knowledge and inspection experience preferred.Surface plate layout and dimensional inspection knowledge.Knowledge of measurement system analysis (MSA) and calibration requirements.Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, and aerospace customer requirements.Experience using ERP, quality management, and statistical analysis software.
