Job summary

PlanIT Group, LLC seeks a Quality Engineer to develop, implement, and maintain standards for aerospace quality processes. You will conduct inspections, testing, and verification to ensure reliability and compliance with project requirements and AS9100. The role involves PFMEA, supplier quality, and cross-functional problem solving.

Requires a STEM degree and DoD experience, strong communication, and ability to work in a hybrid environment with on-site and remote work.

Qualifications

• STEM degree at bachelor level or higher in Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Quality engineering experience in developing and reviewing quality requirements, standards, procedures, methods, and control plans.
• Experience with D/PFMEA.
• Understanding of procedure compliance assessment, process/audit/product audit techniques.
• Ability to interpret drawings and specifications and industry standards.
• Knowledge of inspection methods for electronic circuit cards and electro-mechanical assemblies.
• Experience with non-conforming product control (MRB).
• Experience leading cross-functional teams for root cause investigation and corrective action using 8D, 5-Why, Fault Tree, FMEA, etc.
• AS9100 Quality Management Systems understanding.
• Experience with First Article Inspections to AS9102.
• Supplier quality assurance/control experience.
• Experience with US Government DoD customers.
• Strong project management skills and ability to multi-task in a hybrid environment.
• Effective interpersonal communication and collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and stakeholders.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Project, Visio.

Job description

Develops, modifies, applies, and maintains standards for software quality operating methods, processes, systems and procedures. Conducts software inspection, testing, verification and validation. Implements software development and maintenance processes and methods. Ensures measures meet acceptable reliability standards. Develops overall operating criteria to ensure implementation of the software quality program according to project, process and contract requirements and objectives. Ensures that project and process control documentation are compliant with requirements, objects and/or contract. Reviews include applicable specifications, materials, tools, techniques, and methodologies. Performs or directs verification of software requirement allocations, traceability, and testability.

Basic Required Qualifications

• STEM degree at bachelors level or higher in one of the following disciplines: Aerospace, Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering, OR equivalent experience/combined education.
• Quality engineering experience in developing and reviewing quality requirements, standards, procedures, methods, work instructions, and control plans.
• Experience performing Design/Process Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (D/PFMEA).
• Demonstrated understanding of procedure compliance assessment, process audit, and product audit techniques.
• Ability to interpret drawings and specifications and industry standards.
• Understanding of inspection methods for electronic circuit cards and electro-mechanical assemblies.
• Experience with control and disposition of non-conforming product (Material Review Board).
• Experience leading cross-functional teams for root cause investigation, corrective action, and preventive action using tools like 8D, 5-Why, Fault Tree, PFD, FMEA, Standard Work, Control Plans, etc… and ability to collaboratively solve problems for improving design process, manufacturing process, and business process.
• Demonstrated understanding of AS9100 Quality Management Systems.
• Experience with performing First Article Inspections to AS9102 requirements.
• Experience with supplier quality assurance/control.
• Experience working with US Government Department of Defense customers.
• Strong project management skills, with demonstrated ability to multi-task and meet deadlines.
• Effective inclusive interpersonal skills, including team building, risk identification, collaboration, problem solving, and presentations in hybrid working environments (remote and in office).
• Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with Engineering, Manufacturing, Subcontracting, Program Management, Finance, suppliers, customers, and all other stakeholders.
• Proficient with Microsoft apps: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, Project, Visio.
• An understanding and knowledge of special processes and an overall understanding of how to manage and interface with suppliers daily to support the Program
