Akkodis is seeking a Quality Engineer I for a 12-month contract position at its Gastonia, NC facility. The role focuses on material and product inspections, documenting findings, and ensuring quality before shipments to the Richmond location.

The ideal candidate has 2–3 years in quality or manufacturing, experience with sheet metal processes, and strong root-cause analysis skills. Occasional travel to Richmond, VA is required; salary ranges $35–$40/hour on W2.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Perform material and product inspections at supplier locations and the Gastonia facility.
• Approve and release shipments for delivery to Richmond.
• Document inspection findings through reports, photographs, and quality records.
• Investigate nonconforming materials and assist with corrective actions.
• Support root cause analysis and problem-resolution activities for rejected shipments.
• Review quality documentation and ensure compliance with standards.
• Partner with suppliers, production teams, and quality personnel to improve product quality.
• Track and communicate quality performance metrics.
• Assist in implementing CAPA and support continuous improvement initiatives.

Pay Range: $35 - $40/hr. on W2 (The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.)

Position Overview

Company is seeking a Quality Engineer I to support supplier quality and material inspection activities at its Gastonia, NC facility. This role will be responsible for inspecting incoming and outgoing materials, documenting inspection results, partnering with suppliers to resolve quality concerns, and ensuring product quality standards are met prior to shipment to company's Richmond location.

Must-Have Skills:

• Material inspection experience in a manufacturing environment
• Strong problem-solving and root cause analysis skills
• Knowledge of sheet metal manufacturing processes

Education:

• Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related technical field

Experience:

• 2-3 years of relevant quality, manufacturing, supplier quality, or inspection experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience working in supplier quality, manufacturing quality, or quality assurance environments
• Familiarity with quality tools and methodologies such as:
• 8D
• Fishbone Diagrams
• Corrective Action Processes
• Experience reading engineering drawings and specifications
• Knowledge of manufacturing processes related to fabricated sheet metal products

Travel Requirements

• Occasional travel to Richmond, VA (typically 1-2 times per month as business needs require)

Interview Process

• 2-3 interview rounds
• Supplier Quality Engineering (SQE) Team Interview
• Quality Manager Interview
