Job summary

Howmet Aerospace in Fullerton, CA is seeking a Quality Engineer to join our on-site Aerospace team. The role focuses on maintaining the AS9100 QMS, supporting audits, and driving process improvements.

You will work across departments to develop procedures and training, participate in design reviews, and manage root cause corrective actions. Qualifications include a mechanical/industrial/manufacturing engineering degree and 1+ years in manufacturing, with preferred 3+ years in aerospace quality

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering (mechanical, industrial, materials, or manufacturing).
• Experience with quality systems and audits is required; AS9100 knowledge preferred.
• Knowledge of lean manufacturing, problem-solving tools, and blueprint reading.

Responsibilities

• Maintain the AS9100 Quality Management System and related documents.
• Support customer, AS9100, and NADCAP audits; conduct internal audits.
• Identify improvement opportunities and develop training materials.
• Participate in design reviews, risk management, and PPAP activities.
• Create and enforce quality standards, procedures, and work instructions.
• Collaborate with all departments to improve processes and training.
• Lead root cause and corrective action for complaints; evaluate suppliers.

Responsibilities

Job Summary:

As a Quality Engineer, you'll be part of our Aerospace team working as an on-site employee in Fullerton, CA.

Job Responsibilities:

• Maintaining the AS9100 Quality Management System.
• Supporting of customer, AS9100, and NADCAP audits
• Conducting internal audits and identifying areas for improvement.
• Understanding customer demands and expectations of products and services
• Developing training documentation for specific processes in compliance with customer and quality requirements.
• Participating in design reviews, risk management, continuous improvement, approval of routers for new products, contract review, and PPAP activities.
• Creating and enforcing quality standards, procedures, and policies.
• Working closely with all departments/functions to develop procedures/work instructions for new processes, identify improvement and training needs, and develop performance goals.
• Communicating significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and provides recommended process improvements to management.
• Managing Root Cause & Corrective Action process for external and internal customer complaints.
• Developing new approaches to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities.
• Interface and assist with supply chain development and initiatives; evaluate supplier performance; maintain suppliers' qualifications up to date.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor's degree in engineering in mechanical, industrial, Material Science or manufacturing engineering
• 1+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in the quality field, aerospace industry preferred
• ASQ CQE certified (preferred)

Knowledge of lean manufacturing basics and AS9100 quality system requirements

Working Knowledge of problem-solving tools

Experience in blueprint reading

PPAP and AS9102 experience

Strong organization and planning skills

Compensation Range

$80,000 - $103,000
