Job summary

Howmet Aerospace Inc. in Fullerton, CA is seeking a Quality Engineer to join our aerospace team on-site. You will maintain the AS9100 Quality Management System and support customer, AS9100, and NADCAP audits.

The role involves internal audits, supplier qualification, PPAP activities, and driving continuous improvement across departments; a Bachelor's degree in engineering and 1+ year manufacturing experience are required, with 3+ years preferred.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering in mechanical, industrial, Material Science or manufacturing engineering.
  • 1+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment.
  • Preferred: 3+ years in quality, aerospace industry; ASQ CQE (preferred); Lean basics and AS9100 requirements; problem-solving tools; blueprint reading; PPAP and AS9102 experience.

Responsibilities

  • Maintaining the AS9100 Quality Management System.
  • Supporting customer, AS9100, and NADCAP audits.
  • Conducting internal audits and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Understanding customer demands and expectations of products and services.
  • Developing training documentation for processes per customer and quality requirements.
  • Participating in design reviews, risk management, continuous improvement, PPAP activities.
  • Creating and enforcing quality standards, procedures, and policies.
  • Working with all departments to develop procedures/work instructions for new processes and training needs.
  • Communicating significant issues identified during quality assurance activities and recommending improvements.
  • Managing Root Cause & Corrective Action for external and internal customer complaints.
  • Developing new approaches to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities.
  • Interface with supply chain development and supplier qualifications.

Responsibilities

Job Summary: As a Quality Engineer, you'll be part of our Aerospace team working as an on-site employee in Fullerton, CA.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Maintaining the AS9100 Quality Management System.
  • Supporting customer, AS9100, and NADCAP audits
  • Conducting internal audits and identifying areas for improvement.
  • Understanding customer demands and expectations of products and services
  • Developing training documentation for specific processes in compliance with customer and quality requirements.
  • Participating in design reviews, risk management, continuous improvement, approval of routers for new products, contract review, and PPAP activities.
  • Creating and enforcing quality standards, procedures, and policies.
  • Working closely with all departments/functions to develop procedures/work instructions for new processes, identify improvement and training needs, and develop performance goals.
  • Communicating significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and provides recommended process improvements to management.
  • Managing Root Cause & Corrective Action process for external and internal customer complaints.
  • Developing new approaches to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities.
  • Interface and assist with supply chain development and initiatives; evaluate supplier performance; maintain suppliers' qualifications up to date.
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering in mechanical, industrial, Material Science or manufacturing engineering
  • 1+ years of experience working in a manufacturing environment

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in the quality field, aerospace industry preferred
  • ASQ CQE certified (preferred)
  • Knowledge of lean manufacturing basics and AS9100 quality system requirements
  • Working Knowledge of problem-solving tools
  • Experience in blueprint reading
  • PPAP and AS9102 experience
  • Strong organization and planning skills

Compensation Range:

$80,000 - $103,000
