Job description

At Superior Aerospace Precision Machining, you'll contribute to high-quality products used in demanding aerospace applications. We value precision, continuous improvement, teamwork, and professional growth. This position gives you the opportunity to apply your technical expertise across multiple areas of the operation and make a meaningful contribution to product quality and safety.

About the Position

We are seeking an experienced Quality Engineer to help ensure our precision-manufactured products meet stringent aerospace standards, regulatory requirements, and customer specifications. This hands-on role combines quality engineering, CMM programming and inspection, quality-system improvement, supplier development, and problem-solving across the manufacturing operation.

What You'll Do

You will program and operate Coordinate Measuring Machines using PC-DMIS and perform incoming, first-piece, in-process, and final inspections. You will interpret engineering drawings, 3D models, specifications, and GD&T requirements to verify product compliance.

You will also maintain and continuously improve the company's quality management system; prepare internal First Article Inspection reports; review supplier FAIs; and perform internal and supplier audits. Working with machine operators and cross-functional teams, you will provide quality feedback, conduct root-cause analyses, and develop effective corrective actions.

This position requires occasional travel for supplier audits, new-supplier development and certification, and issue resolution. Although the position has no regular direct reports, temporary oversight of inspectors or other personnel may be required. Additional duties may be assigned based on operational needs.

What We're Looking For

Qualified candidates will have:

  • A bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related technical field and at least five years of quality control or inspection experience in a machining or manufacturing environment; or at least 12 years of relevant experience in lieu of a degree
  • At least three years of PC-DMIS programming and hands-on CMM operation
  • Strong working knowledge of metrology, inspection methods, and quality assurance systems
  • The ability to interpret 3D models, 2D engineering drawings, and ASME Y14.5 GD&T
  • Experience with root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and quality-data reporting
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook
  • The ability to travel up to approximately 20%
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States

Experience with aerospace or piston-engine components, FAA regulations, ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality systems, supplier auditing, and Non-Destructive Testing is preferred.

  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • 401(k) with company matching
