Job summary

Northrop Grumman is seeking a Quality Engineer to join the Mission Systems Sector in Elkridge, MD. The role focuses on establishing and maintaining quality systems, collaborating across contracts, inspection, and manufacturing, and driving continuous improvement.

Candidates should have a STEM degree (BS or MS) and relevant QA experience, with proficiency in Excel, Minitab, and Power BI. US citizenship and ability to obtain a secret clearance are required.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in a STEM field with 2+ years in Quality Assurance or related engineering areas, or a Masters Degree in STEM.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Secret Clearance; US Citizenship required.
  • Experience with ISO9001 or AS9100 quality systems and AS9102 First Article Inspections (FAI).
  • Lean Six Sigma Green/Black Belt certified; Six-Sigma methodologies knowledge.
  • Experience using Excel, Minitab, Power BI or similar data analysis tools.

Responsibilities

  • Develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into finished products.
  • Collaborates with contracts, inspection, manufacturing operations, and shipping to ensure quality standards.
  • Maintains KPIs and charts to identify trends and track performance.
  • Identifies and reviews product non-conformances and uses data to inform quality decisions.
  • Audits quality systems for deficiencies and implements corrective actions.

Northrop Grumman Mission Systems Sector is seeking a Quality Engineer to join our team in Elkridge, MD at our Troy Hill facility.

What You\'ll Get To Do

  • Develops, modifies, applies and maintains quality evaluation and control systems and protocols for processing materials into partially finished or finished materials product.
  • May have experience in Wide Area Work Flow (WAWF).
  • Collaborate with contracts, inspection, manufacturing operations, and shipping.
  • Collaborates with engineering and manufacturing functions to ensure quality standards are in place.
  • Introduction to Root Cause Corrective Action (RCCA), HQMS and Continuous Improvement activities.
  • Maintains Key Performance Metrics (SRR, FTTTY, FTTIY, NDR, CoPQ, test data, etc.) and Charts used to identify trends and track performance process and quality performance.
  • Ensures that performance and quality products conform to established company and regulatory standards.
  • Identifies and review product non-conformances.
  • Uses data to make Quality decisions.
  • Implements and enforces adherence to PrOP, CADSTAR drawings, Quality Assurance Directives (QAD), Work Instructions to fit program quality objectives.
  • Support Functional/ Physical Process Assessments.
  • Presents Program Risks and Opportunities within the Cell.
  • Devises and implements methods and procedures, for inspecting, testing and evaluating the precision and accuracy of products and production equipment.
  • Designs and analyzes inspection and testing processes, mechanisms and equipment; conducting quality assurance tests; and performing statistical analysis to assess the cost of and determine the responsibility for products or materials that do not meet required standards and specifications.
  • Audits quality systems for deficiency identification and correction.
  • Ensures that corrective measures meet acceptable reliability standards, and that documentation is compliant with requirements.
  • Leads and implements Continuous Improvements to reduce defect count on the manufacturing floor.
  • May be certified in Lean and Six Sigma quality engineering methodologies

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) field with a minimum of 2 years of engineering experience in Quality Assurance, which can include investigating failures and identifying root causes or in Manufacturing, Process, Electrical, or Mechanical Engineering field of work performing technical job functions; OR a Masters Degree in a STEM field.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S.Government Secret Clearance
  • US Citizenship required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with ISO9001 or AS9100 Quality Management System and AS9102 First Article Inspections (FAI).
  • Wide Area Workflow experience
  • Green/Black Belt Certified in Lean Six-sigma.
  • Certified in Lean and Six-Sigma methodologies
  • SAP Experience
  • Active U.S.Government Secret Clearance
  • Experience using Microsoft Excel, Minitab or equivalent tools for statistical analysis.
  • Knowledge of modern skillsets such as Artificial Intelligence, SQL, Power BI to aid in data analysis and data visualization

Primary Level Salary Range: $79,600.00 - $119,400.00

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate\'s experience, education, skills and current market conditions.

Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives. In addition, Northrop Grumman provides a variety of benefits including health insurance coverage, life and disability insurance, savings plan, Company paid holidays and paid time off (PTO) for vacation and/or personal business.
